When does Dan Walker move to News 24? I take it he is joining the Sports presenting team?

He did used to work for NW before moving to National as North of England correspondant. He's been a bit quiet of late, although there are quite a few North of England correspondents at the moment - Catherine Marston, Mark Simpson, Danny Savage, Judith Moritz, Richard Wells, John Thorne to name but a few

What was going on tonight?
Lead story: How to stop junk mail.
They tried to harden it up with a sob story about some 'distressed' bloke who's had 7 (that's one every other month, folks!) letters from NTL addressed to his wife in the year since she died. Yet he was quite happy to leaf through them for the cameras and has pictures of her scattered all over the house.
One of the best news patches in the country and this is supposedly the top story today in the north west. Absolutely pathetic.

Well the man in charge in Manchester now is (unless it's changed again!), the same man that was in charge of Radio Leeds at the relaunch.

I see that BBC GMR is changing its name to BBC Radio Manchester from the 3rd April.
On the website they are using the slogan "Manchester's changing, and so are we". That was the same slogan they used when BBC Radio Leeds relaunched

Calling the Local Radio Station BBC Manchester would cause confusion with network production from BBC Manchester, especially as more production is supposed to be moved up North then a clear definition is better!

Interesting move - although I'm surprised they didn't just call it BBC Manchester, given that seems to be the way new radio stations on the Beeb are going.
