Listening online, and it is indeed very interesting.

Gordon seems a real dude and has quite a sense of humour.

Very Happy

Agreed, he has had alot to tell tonight, his Television career probably being the most interesting. I never knew he created a Daytime Gameshow from his Indepedent Production Company, I can't remember what it's called (something In Your Ear?) but apparently it still gets shown in Latvia.

Though not much has been said about North West Tonight, there was alot about The Krypton Factor and how he got the job.

It was called A Word In Your Ear -- I found myself listening as well [most unlike me].

Weren't the GMR jingles voiced by Trish Bertram? Sounded awfully like it. Pips at 11pm -- how provincial.

Either way I thought Gordon came across excellently in that interview, what with his mini-skirt chasing, bachelor pad tales -- and his accent seemed an awful lot stronger when speaking naturally.

Also mentioned being the youngest ITV sports editor [and one of the youngest nightly anchors] too, as well as being the only regional journalist to have interviewed every PM since Heath.

Interesting that he doesn't get a penny for Krypton Factor repeats as they had no idea really even when it ended in the mid nineties that such things would ever be repeated on such a thing as Challenge tv [who would]. Still gets £1.70 or summat every time Prime Suspect 5 is on mind you.

Facts facts facts.

I think it was Trish Bertram on the 11pm Jingles, well it did sound alot like her.

But anways fantastic stuff last night, shame he doesn't get paid for Krypton Factor repeats, but as he said when he signed up to do it in 1977 they never expected it (or any gameshow for that matter) to be repeated. I think he gets more repeat fee when Prime Suspect 5 is shown in English, but as you said he gets about £1.70 when it was last shown in Latvia or somewhere. If you ever see the Latvian version of Word In Your Ear then Gordon Burns' name still appears in the credits.

I personally never knew that Mike Scott (ex-Granada person) did the pilot for The Krypton Factor, but he turned it down because he didn't want his repuation as a serious journalist to change. But if Mike Scott did carry on then Gordon wouldn't have got the job.

I think it was interesting that he didn't go to University, but as he said he'd been in Journalism since his school days. It was interesting when he mentioned his time at the Sport department of BBC Radio, the BBC Sport Editor at that time didn't want him, but Gordon did his research and proved the man wrong.

Overall the interview last night was worth listening to, he went rather in-depth into his time in Press, Radio and Television and interesting it was, plus he was very down to Earth and as said quite the person during the Swinging 60's.

There was a very odd cock up on the 3.20pn bulletin, after the last report Gordon kept looking into the camera, albeit very confused and says we were going to bring you the Weather, but we've got to go, and tells us we'll see him at 6.30. Then the NWT sting plays for about 30 seconds, with the end note going on for the same duration then cuts straight back into a BBC1 ident.

I think you've got your terms confused.

Mark Oaten had an affair with a rent BOY, not a rent COLLECTOR! There's a difference... unless it was a joke you were intending to make....

Yes, it was a joke, it was also very poor.
