Gordon seemed peeved last night.
They had Dan in Preston and he did several extensive lives on Flintoff throughout NWT and at the end Gordon said '' Guess what Dan we have had enough of you. That was NWT with Dan Walker and a little contribution from Gordon Burns and Dianne Oxbury'' or words to that effect. Sounds like his nose was put out because they did so much from Preston and it didn't feature him.
One last point Liam O'Donoghue - has he got the most boring voice in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
in a really poor looking newsroom (to be on tv anyway) tonight for the tea time bulletin. Is this usual for Saturday? don't normally get to see this particular bulletin with sports scores etc but looked really amateur, well, it is NWT i suppose. Anyway, my question being is there something happening in the studio that warrants a move into the newsroom? is the poor equipment getting titivated perhaps 'cos the picture was actually clear tonight rather than the usual grainy picture we're used to.
This has happened a few times in the recent past with both or just one of the weekend bulletins coming from the newsroom, which looks something like a portakabin.
There have been no noticebale changes after this has been done in the past.
One time there was some effort made to make it look presentable, with the newsroom lit red and a plasma, however on other times it appears awful, empty and with computer screens turned off etc.
Dan Walker has just presented his last Sportsdesk on NWT. He said at the end of the programme that he was off to present the sport on News 24, and also work for Grandstand, Football Focus, MOTD etc.
He will be an asset to the national team in London, he really has made the sport enjoyable on NWT - especially his stint in Istanbul last year, a truly fantastic journalist.
Sally Nugent was swiped by network/N24 a few years back, then her placement Vicky Gommosel moved to Sky (she was and is awful) and her replacement Dan Walker is to move to London, a pattern emergening here!
Yeah - I just saw that too.
He's been excellent both at NWT and first on Granada.
Not sure about his replacement.
I think Gordon is right he won't be coming back.
Tough act to replace.
A sad loss for NWT, he was one of their best assets.
But great news for News 24 viewers. He will fit in very well to the sport side of things. He already does a lot of work on a Saturday for MOTD / Football Focus etc so it will be good for him to boost his profile.
I remember him from commentating on radio, he used to do the live football on Key 103 here in Manchester.
