He was good, nice to see him back.
He does not do regular work for NWT any more as he is running his own company, I believe it is canned JayMedia.
But perhaps we will see him in the next few months as cover for Carol Lowe.

Nigel Jay was on! Damn I missed him
How was he? He must be freelancing now . . . Do any insiders know?

I heard her reading the half-hourly news on Radio 5 Live’s ‘Up All Night’ around a month ago.

Record it to server and start playing it while still recording?
If they had a server they'd probably do that.. not too long now.. its being built at the moment apparently
But... my freeview box can do that, surely it's not that hard. Tuner + Network Feed into Hard Drive = Timeshift = Play.
'fraid it is far more difficult than that... Don't forget that there are two, different, versions of BBC One and Two to cope with - analogue and digital...

In the lunchtime show today Gordon's autocue went into reverse, and he had to use the hard copy. However, he seemed to be shuffling with his foot to try to correct the problem.
Was he in fact controlling it himself? I was always under the impression that autocue was controlled by a dedicated operator. Can anyone clarify?

Sounds like he might have been. It can be done either way, but obviously it's cheaper not to have an autocue operator.

The reversing autocue certainly seemed to catch Gordon by surprise, judging by the foot shuffling and somewhat clumsy shift to reading from his script.
On recognising what he'd read out was unintelligible, laudably he steadied himself and read it out again along with apologising and taking responsibility for the technical problem twice, firstly then and also at the close of the show.
