I liked the feature with Dave Guest and Jayne Barrett challenging each other to see who would be the quickest to get to London, with Dave going on the Virgin Pendolino and Jayne on a Plane. I didn't see much point of it, but they dug out a clip of NWT from a year or two ago to go with it, when Branson launched Pendolino.
Must have been another really busy News day at NWT.

I don't know whether you are being sarcastic or serious.
The item was well produced by Jayne and Dave.
But frankly its news value was nil. And considering there wasn't much other news in NWT it served no real purpose other than as a pointless feature.
I felt sorry for Dan being mobbed by United fans outside Old Trafford.

My last comment was sarcastic, but I agree with the rest of what you said.

In terms of talkability a lot of people probably do debate whether or not to fly or get the train. And as you say it was well produced so an entertaining watch. Although I bet you can get cheaper flights than the £140 quoted in the package if you book far enough in advance.
And I couldn't understand why Dave got a cab when he got to Euston though - it would surely be quicker by underground to Piccadilly Circus.
Both VLM and Virgin tried to make a story out of it by both issuing press releases claiming victory. Bet they weren't pleased when NWT ran that as a story as well!

I don't think either VLM or Virgin would have been concerned.
In fact I think they would have resorted to the old adage that ''any publicity is good publicity''.
Trebles and a bonus all round for the PR's!!!!!!!!

Gordon had to apologise last night for a mistake made on Friday's NWT when they showed a factory they said was closing down - and it wasn't!
That's very poor.
At the end of the show they made a fresh appeal for viewers to join the Regional BBC Board to look at what the BBC do right and wrong!
The mistake would be a good start, and then.....

Given that the last few posts have all been from TV Addict I was wondering if he/she had taken over the forum - nice to know there are still other people out there! (and I was getting bored of the continual critisism)
I like the christmas card for Manchester United competition - I think my daughter is going to try a design. It is a good prize!
