I agree with you about Dave's report yesterday. Also, that Voices series is awful. If it just me or do you find it very strange how they can show three minutes of people talking over each other with the viewer not being able to hear whats been said?
Yesterdays show was OK actually, apart from Voices.

Including when they failed to adequately cover the Shipman Report which is extensively covered in most of today's papers.

yep - all down to a thing the BBC call pdp (personal digital production). Reporters using cheapo cameras themselves. BBC sell it to staff as a way of getting better access/different perspectives on stories.......the reality is that it saves the beeb loads of cash on proper camerawork.
The results of course are an embarrassment. Ironically the BBC has spent in excess of £12 million (and counting) training its journalists to use cheapo cameras.
Much of regional tv now looks likes an 80's wedding video. But there are dozens of highly paid managers who have got their snouts in the trough on this one, so backing down on this project will never be an option.....

It seems the whole show is shot on amateur cam these days.
I'm sure if I watched student trainee TV the standards would be better.

What more needed to be said about the Shipman Report other than his suicide was not able to be predicted or prevented?
The hideous misuse of his power and barbaric nature of his crimes shocked us all but in August 2005 this was essentially an old story undeserving of a fully fledged report.

But it said more than that. It flagged up areas where improvements needed to be made. And frankly if that were the case that it said nothing why did many papers make double page spreads or full page articles on it? Or maybe the BBC decided to just take the headline that the authorities wanted them to take rather than read what the report said????
Of course if you have no creative thoughts on how to convey the report to the viewer and would rather run two mins on a 21-thousand pound mobile phone which is frankly an ad for the shop (and then dress it up as news) - or indeed any other manufactured item that is meant to ''relate to the viewer'' but actually patronises them - then maybe that's why the staff are unhappy being made to shoot stuff on second rate cameras and the ratings are falling.
And if you don't believe the last comment I don't care because I know it's true based on factual comments from friends who are employed at the BBC and who are involved in NWT.

you've mentioned a friend before for this "insider knowledge", and now it appears to be more than one. do we take it that you work there yourself?
