is long overdue to be upgraded, though I don't think anything is happening here until the BBC makes a decision whether to move Childrens, Sport and Five Live to Manchester.

Maybe they could drag the show into the 21st Century as well.

Gordon covers a lot of his mistakes by blaming "Technical problems"

All is not as it seems sometimes........

Not sure... it was there 3/4 days ago. Maybe they're working on a new one? I sent several e-mails about the old NWT site, and never once received a reply or saw anything I e-mailed about change. I gave up trying in the end. The other regional news program sites still appear to be there, so it looks like just the NW one that's gone.

I'd be interested to know what you mean by that???

The show seems schizophrenic.
Is it single headed by Gordon or is Diana a sort of sub anchor?
Tonight she did most of the show from the Isle of Mann, but the handovers from Gordon to her and back again were very stiff.
Tonight, Gordon did the Sport because Dan is off. Sometimes though Stuart or Peter do it. Some nights there's none at all.
Surely you either have a Sports bulletin or not and if you do it is either presented by someone else or not.
There is no consistency.
As I remember from both this thread and the Granada one it seems the Editor of NWT does what she used to do at Granada and chops and changes according to whether she has staff or feels like it.

Shame the same fate doesn't befall NWT as happens to a moth when it gets too close to a flame....

It certainly needs it. It's getting stale and long-in-the-tooth IMO. Especially when you compare it to other BBC local news efforts such as Midlands Today. Cracking graphics, good studio, a good double-headed team (though I still think Gordon would do excellently if paired up with someone else as he's a great presenter) and good reporting. I do hope NWT take note.

As an aside, I've emailed the BBC about the disappearance of the NWT site, but so far have had no reply. Does anybody know what's going on with it?

North West Tonight is worse now than it has ever been. Gordon is getting very tedious now - he's much worse than he used to be. The graphics look cheap, the studio is a mish-mash of objects and the picture quality is dreadful! I've got an LCD television, and everything except NWT is crisp and clear. When NWT comes on, it is grainy and generally looks shabby.

Granada Reports is miles ahead of NWT now. I much prefer to watch ITV for my regional news.
