Much, much better tonight - perhaps the editors have been reading in...

A good 7 mins of the top story about the Muslim cleric, good in-studio interview with some good close-ups of Gordon & guest. Plenty of 'proper' news. The feature about school dinners lowered the tone a bit but was very useful and well put together.

Sport was good, they had Amir Khan in (even better). Dan handing straight over to weather was a great idea and worked well.

A much better programme than the last few weeks!

Strange - I switched over from Granada Reports and found NWT had the exact same line up.
Same lead - Cleric.
Same guest off the back of it.
Same idea to have Amir Khan in live.
And both ended on a story about Pensioners in Liverpool rapping.
And then both had e-mails on the cleric story.
Maybe they are both learning from each other.
Or maybe they've read this thread and the NWT team have decided to copy GR as the general theme seems to be GR is newsier and NWT was getting too soft!!!!

*snore* Neutral A whole program on plants - would rather watch Granada Reports.

Cant really see why Dan Walker is there, Stuart read the only bit of sports news in the studio, at least he provides some comic relief from the general boredom of the flower show.

They need a good set of new presenters, give the progoramme a bit of a fresh, younger (i.e. no gordon) feel. Gordon is getting to old for it now, and doent seem very interested.

Breakfast - Gordon Burns (r. Jane Barret)
1 - Stuart Flinders (r. Leo Devine/Dave Guest)
6 - Stuart Flinders, Annabel Tiffin (r. Leo Devine/Dave Guest, Ranvir Singh)
10 - Fiona Trott (r. Ranvir Singh)

Weekends - Carol Lowe (r. Leo Devine)

I think it's pretty obvious that Dave Guest has been trying to get behind the desk for a good few years now and seems to be getting nowhere. The trouble is he is such a good location reporter they won't want to lose him from his current job, even if it means having him present the news.

I bet you didn't know that Dave Guest used to be one of NWT's producers in the early 1990's, so he's been there sometime now, whether he wants to present or not.

Personally I see nothing wrong with Gordon Burns presenting, he is great, he's committed unlike others, he just needs a co-host, thats all.

I don't think I agree that Gordon needs a co-host, I think he should cut back by either having Friday as an extra day off or stop presenting NWToday at lunchtimes. It would give Stuart Flinders more of a look-in too

NWT has lots of stars in its presenting team, but I think both programmes work well with Gordon - he is a great presenter.

It seems that viewers see Gordon as Mr NWT and NWT probably would be lacking something if he was to leave.

Annabel Tiffin, Fiona Trot, Stuart Flinders, Peter Marshall and NIGEL JAY are all good presenters and should be given more prominent roles. I still cant see why Jayne Barret fronted the 6.30 - she was just awful, especially when they have all these other great presenters.

Jane Barret reminded me of Newsround when she was presenting. Patronising tones and all. Much better to leave it to Miss NWT, Mrs Annabel Tiffin.
