What else has Tina presented? I've only ever seen her doing NWT.

anyone watching last night.. problems with gordons mic after he moved to the sofa.. sounded like they faded the wrong one up to begin with then never found it ... about 20secs of nothing with gordon carrying on as normal... then went to jayne barrett who was doing some daft barbecue thing outside... I must've missed the hard news as I missed the 1st 2 minutes of the programme.. all fluffy from there....

Jayne Barret presenting tonight. Does any one know why she, a reporter, presents as a stand in for Gordon now and not another member of the presenting team.
I think Fiona Trot would be better if Stuart or Annabel couldnt present. She is very good on the Breakfast updates and now seems to be reporting alot more and is also very good at that.
Jayne Barret tends to shout a bit when reading IMO and seems a bit unwelcoming unlike Gordon. She didnt even say 'Goodnight' at the end of the programme tonight, Dianne Oxberry who was also at the desk had to slip in a quiet 'Goodnight' before the wide shot.

this is just getting daft.. how many presenters do they need?.. I know they need stand ins but surely the audience need to connect with one on early one on late and one for the main programme... these days you never know who you're going to get... maybe nigel jay might pop up again!!!

They are obviously experimenting. Lets hope they dont give Jayne Barrat a slot. She should stick to talking about BBQ's. Shes good at that.
As for Fiona, now she is brilliant. She should be on NWTonight. I can imagine her wanting more news on it rather than the fifteen minutes of competitions etc.
Still, I carry on watching. Dont know why but I think its because when they do cover news, they do it well.
Finally, Notice how Dianne Oxberry keeps getting the forecast wrong??

saw jayne barrett tonight on north west tonight, actually thought she was excellent and made the programme watchable for once. don't get me wrong, gordon is a legend, but i really can't be bothered watching when he's on, he bores me rigid.

How the mighty has recently fallen.
I've always regarded NWT as the home of authoritative journalism but lately the balance between News output and what I'd term 'lighter', ongoing, wider community based stories along with pointless Granada Reports-type features like Eat North West have increased. Along with wretched competitions.
I'm all for increased audience involvement and one could argue such features represent the whole North West and reveal its true character much more effectively than reporting individual events from Liverpool and Manchester.
However, this has compromised the quality and depth of news output.
Thankfully, the show is not beyond help.
Gordon Burns is a superb presenter, the best in my opinion, as he is the only one who today reads the news as if it really matters - with authority and sensitivity. I get the impression many other presenters merely belt off their lines, thinking little about the words and impact of the stories. Gordon's face after reading a particularly distressing story is always appropriate. That's why so many people warm to him.
The show also has some top notch reporters such as Dave Guest and Stuart Flinders but it is such a shame they have recently been lowered into some really irrelevant reporting. Flags on Car Number Plates and Expensive Shoes spring to mind. Truly a waste of everyone's time.
Perhaps another 3 or 4 minutes of proper news from across the region, even if it only be in summary form, at the expense of one of the 'fluffier' stories would be the way to go.
As I've detailed, no major changes are required other than a return to a focus on good old fashioned news - something which NWT has been renowned for over many years.
The show is hurtling the way of it's ITV rival and frankly we should expect much, much better from NWT.
