Another brilliant example of the half asleep prouction team at NWT, this morning during Breakfast on the cut to the regions we got to look at a poor startled presenter (cant remember her name, young, short haired), then the titles, then after her saying good morning, we got another view of North West Today logo. Wakey wakey, come on guys, we need a revamp, Manchester is such a big, influencial cutting edge city with a TV news service that could be done better in someones bedroom. dump Gordon and get Lucy Meacock poached!

Sounds like Fiona trot, who's one of the Breakfast regulars.
I do think it's a shame they don't introduce themselves in the morning any more.

But that's not a revamp issue, that's a 'getting the technical stuff sorted out' issue.
I really don't see poaching presenters fromt he other side as the answer. At the very least, give Gordon a co-presenter (Annabel Tiffin perhaps) and allow more of the experimentation that happened during the summer, when it was a far superior programme.
Lucy Meacock! NO NO NO! Let her stay out of the way at Granada, at least her poor quality presenting isn't noticed there.
Tony Morris a good presenter ALONE. Together with Lucy Meacock they turn Granada Reports into a far inferior news program to NWT, serious news can not be well covered with continous and irrelevant banter.
Well if Gordon's to stay then the least we can do as a viewing region is to club together for a new voicebox for the poor old chap, I always think he's going to go into Krypton Factor mode & introduce the observation round with Roy Barraclough as some bumbling antiques dealer!! I think everyone should defintely introduce themselves, take a lesson from Tina Bangs, she spends half the Breakfast bulletin with her fab pouting and slow, seductive, glint in her eye (if you like that sort of thing) introduction. I moved out of the Border region recently and am missing the gorgeous Andrew Farmer, bring him down here now, he'd be good on BBC NWT, are we EVER going to get a new walky round red and wite set? The new Midlands Tonight set would go brilliantly!
Watching North West Tonight just puts me to sleep! Gordon is a good presenter but I think it would work SO much better with a co-host and a new studio.
Gordon should be back on The Krypton Factor on ITV - he was fantastic on there! Is he really 61????

Yup, according to IMDB he is 61, it wouldn't suprise me as he has been on TV for at least 3 or 4 decades now. I do agree Gordon is a very good presenter, though it doesn't put me to sleep. Though he is one of the best, he was good tonight when interviewing Johnny Vegas, last night also when they lost the sound on a live report Gordon and Diane worked very well talking about things when they cut out of the feed, that is what he is also good at.
I really don't think a revamp is that neccessary, but what they did over the summer with Annabel Tiffin was how it should be, they made great use of the studio and they used many new camera angles and different shots too and different methods such as sitting on the desk, it did feel like a breath of fresh air and how NWT should be like all of the time.
Flicked past NWT last night and noticed that Gordon was siting (with one of the reporters) on the white chairs in the second part of the set, just like Annabelle did in the summer.
Who knows? Perhaps there is hope for developing the style of NWT.
Whilst talking to Dianne at the end of North West Tonight this evening Gordon said goodbye to the current set and said there would be a new set from Monday.
I suppose it has been 4 years since its last new set (or 2 years if you count the red paint!).
Seems funny that they used a few new camera angles and positions this evening.
On Wednesdays show NWT opened with a shot from behind the newsdesk and one of the reporters standing at the large screen in the background. And today it started with Gordon standing next to the webcam window.
Lets hope we dont have anything resembeling East Midlands Today or Granada Reports.

Ooo how exciting. WT and NWT have updated only once in nearly ten years, but NWT does seem an awful lot older.
They're both quite similar in some ways, but Manchester don't seem to make any effort really -- no pretty graphics or maps, or anything resembling depth or things to look forward to later on.
I remember it being a lot cheerier and watchable in the later 1990s, but I don't think Gordon eats his weetabix anymore.
