It was a really well-put together NWT last night. I liked the way each presenter read the whole of an introduction to a story, rather than the contrived handing over mid-way through.
According to Gordon's Newsletter, Stuart Flinders will be leaving BBC North West in 5 months or so, he's going to be on BBC News Channel permanently, quite a good career move, he's a superb Newsreader.
Good news for our reporter Stuart Flinders but bad news for us. He’s leaving us for 5 months to be a national news anchor on the BBC News Channel (formerly known as News 24). He’s been doing the odd weekend stint for them over the past few months and they’ve recognised his undoubted talent and taken him on a longer attachment. Stuart is one of the best reporters I’ve worked with in a long career in television and I’m sure he’s destined for great things. So, keep an eye out for him on the news Channel. Stuart is a lifelong and dedicated Bolton Wanderers supporter but in a shock move decided to give up his season ticket and now plans to watch whatever games take his fancy. He started this new season by going to a Stockport County game. They drew 0-0. Meanwhile over at The Reebok, Wanderers won 3-1!! Sod’s law again. I wonder who he’ll go and watch in London…..Brentford?!
Please note it says he's going
for
five months, not in five months. From the way the article has been written, Stuart will be back after five months, not permanently.

Having said that though, I'd bet in five months time Stuart will be asked to become permanent.
North West Tonight has won the RTS NW 2008 Best News Programme award for its James Purnell fake photo scoop. Brief footage of the award being collected was shown at the end of last nights show and the above mentioned award title now proudly sits at the top of the endcap.
