I see they've put a BBC NEWS box on the graphic shown on the projector screens - it looks awful, particularly when there's two presenters in the shot.

Yep, noticed this last night too, the end cap has also been edited to have the box on.

Argh! BBC overload! Four mentions on the end screen is excessive, and cluttered when they all occupy the same third of it.

Could be worse, it could also have....

bbc.co.uk/news/england/manchester (or Merseyside or Lancashire) on the tag aswell.

Noticed they added the box on the Lunchtime today, it just seems pointless, either have it as BBC North West Today/Tonight or North West Today/Tonight from BBC News, it just looks stupid having both.

Annabel Tiffin looked a liddle casual on the 30-sec regional round-up... a turquoise polo shirt, if I recall...

Technically under BBC guidelines website addresses can only be showed to one level beyond the domain. Interestingly it seems an end cap is not something that was provided to all the regions. Depsite almost, if not all of them requiring it, and them all having similar information to include.

Indeed, endcaps were not provided to regions and that's why they vary so much around the country. Closing Music was sent (a very upbeat 2 minute close and a more traditional 30" (I think) version). Regions had to make up an end sting from the other items on the masters.

Awful North West Tonight this evening. Music didn't fade after the titles just stopped suddenly, Mark had a couple of minor camera problems, the sports graphic read "North West Today" instead of "Tonight", the graphic used to represent somebody on the mobile used the old graphics (the 2007 - 2008 black and red ones) and to top it all off the programme obviously overran as we cut to the weather forecast at least 20 seconds in.

I preferred the NWT of 2004-2007 - simple but effective and pleasant to see and hear, though there were a lot of technical glitches.

The September 2007 look had the 'wow' factor for a while especially with the titles and graphics but I miss the vibrant reds of the studio used in the previous set and very much the big window looking down towards St Peter's Square.

Watching this youtube clip, brings back the memories of the old titles and music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbKbpGtQ3GI

I preferred the music, the vibrant reds of the studio and the window as you've said, but I think the titles were a bit cheap as well as the graphics.

The 2007 look I felt was better bar the bright blue in the studio and the lack of "baking trays" to make it look less empty - still the same situation now I suppose.

They were basic titles but I think everyone got use to them, they were used for a number of years and it was strange at first when we had the new titles. The slow paced real life titles replaced by the snazzy fast paced titles.

Has Stuart Flinders ever presented a bulletin or even a main programme under the current format?

Yes. I think I'm right in saying Stuart Flinders and Annabelle Tiffin were the first duo to stand in when Gordon and Ranvir were away soon after the relaunch. Latterly, Tony Livesey has been the male stand-in presenter.

I think Stuart Flinders is a very good presenter and interviewer and should be first choice stand-in. That said, he'd then be missed in the reporting role he's performed so admirably for well over a decade.
