as this was outside on a public square and I was photographing them setting up I guess it didin't matter that they were filming me taking my photos.

what I did find odd was they allowed people to use flash photography during the actual live outside broadcast, something which we were asked not to do during inside filming of the antiques roadshow a few months back.

when songs of praise is filmed only invited guests are allowed in the church they are filming in, of course you can't photograph soaps being filmed due to storylines as I found out when I saw corry being filmed whilst on the tour 15 years ago.

Guess it's down to what is being filmed and whether they want people around or not.

Don't know if anyone else noticed but North West Tonight used some specially created Liverpool 08 opening titles and stings today which were absolutely fantastic! Sorry to say I didn't get any caps but they included shots of the city in the high speed way that they are edited in the normal titles with the YOUR NEWS text being replaced with Liverpool 08 etc The end of the titles was especially fantastic with fireworks over the Liverpool landscape and the flashy NWT animation.
Also using specially created straps for names etc.

Very professional and nice to see that effort is being put in!

Is it just me that's getting fed up of hearing about frigging Liverpool? It's a horrible, horrible place that in no way deserves this whole Capital of Culture malarkey.

I live in the damn city and can't be bothered with any of this Culture rubbish. All they seem to do is slap that awful 08 logo on everything and wheel out one of the lesser Beatles.

Building a new arena, well needed shopping centre and loads of other stuff, but I'm sure you lot won't be going Rolling Eyes so nothing to worry about there. Laughing

quite. the coverage i have seen today is actually quite insulting to the viewers who have actually seen liverpool and know that it is actually quite a deprived, run down city which seems to have had its hey day and be in terminal decline.

i could live with it if they were honest and called it "garden festival" as they did in the old days when they wanted to throw lots of public money at a deprived area.

its the pretending that liverpool is a great cultural hub which grates on me. there are many other cities which would come before liverpool on the cultural map.

its just a relief to know that no-one outside of the host country take a blind bit of notice of the capital of culture rubbish.

That just highlights your ignorance. Liverpool has produced more musicians, pop singers, footballers, entertainers and comedians than any other city I can think of. It has a rich history and is heavily involved in performing arts, with six theatres. It has several museums and art galleries and is undoubtedly one of the key football cities.

Liverpool may have areas of deprivation, but doesn't every city? There are parts of Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle and most of all London that I wouldn't venture into.

And, Liverpool is no longer 'run down'. That's exactly what the Capital of Culture has helped with - regeneration. However, you seem to have overlooked that minor detail.

i have worked in liverpool enough to know what the place is like so i am certainly not ignorant on the subject. seeing as you claim you live in close proximity to such a culturally exciting city, i do wonder why you seem to sit at home watching an awful lot of bbc world.

Gentlemen, please. I thought this was supposed to be party time? If it's going to cause all this aggro they may as well call it off now
