I didn't catch tonight's episode but it was good to see at least one of those screens being put to good use by Ranvir last night - she presented a story standing up next to the screen - I haven't seen that done on NWT for a while.

On the presentation side of things it feels more like Midlands Today with the young female presenter co-presenting and the older, more experienced male presenter anchoring.

I am rather disappointed that the live Manchester backdrop has been dropped. I'd much rather have that than just images displayed on the screen behind the presenter. It makes it seem very enclosed. I know the old studio set was enclosed, but the presence of the Oxford Road backdrop subconsciously made me think it was a bit more light and airy (as if it was an actual window looking out over the city).

I agree as I liked the live view as well. although the view that granada reports has is a lot bigger and clearer

new website now up bbc.co.uk/nwt

They've only changed the header but at least it's now in the same theme as the titles now

Could somebody explain why I often just get a red block instead of the header? Is it something to do with the anti-virus software I have?

I really dislike the TOTH announcements into the news since the relaunch. They don't even name check the national presenter who is arguably far more important than the regional ones. It's as if they're implying that NWT is the main news programme and the National News is of lesser importance. That is certainly not the case.

Couldn't they say something like: "This is BBC ONE. Now the news with George Alagiah and Natasha Kaplinsky, then North West Tonight at 6.30." They can quite easily name-check themselves at the start of NWT in a way the National presenters can't.

I know it's probably for consistancy, but I don't see why they needed to change the lunchtime/late announcements for this relaunch as there have been no changes to the line-up.

I wonder where Gordon's newsletter is? I subscribed to it last week but I've still not received one.

I think that's a good thing - the animation added nothing but a distraction.

Gordon now seems a lot more relaxed - I'm sure the new sofas are more comfy but in general when presenting the more light hearted stories, seems more relaxed alongside Ranvir.

No mention of Stuart Flinders/Kate Simms tomorrow and no mention on the website either - I think we can assume Gordon and Ranvir will be presenting tomorrow night and they've done a great job together so far.
