Grrrr....Ashley - you beat me to posting the caps! I just wasted half an hour getting mine ready!. I have uploaded the title sequence to YouTube though.

The programme had a different feel all round today, Ranvir settled into the co-presenter role straight away, Gordon seemed less comfortable - especially at the end when all 4 of them were sat round. Nonetheless he was as good as ever presenting the news. I found it ironic that Gordon mentioned the move to Salford Quays - on the first day of the new set he's already looking ahead towards the next relaunch.
The titles were good apart from the 'live news' aston as mentioned. I think they've used a combination of the old London music with the BBC News music and it produced a good effect. I miss that fast paced headline bed though.
Will this be rolled out across all the regions soon or will it be exclusive to NWT?
I like it, but to me there's something not quite right about the theme tune. It's not 'friendly' enough, it seems too serious. It doesn't scream 'local' at me.
The titles are nice though, but I dislike the set. Local news sets should be in the state where you could see a group of condiments and a few meals on the desk quite comfortable. Not warm or 'homey' enough.

On a closer listen i can hear elements of the National, Wales Today and the current London theme. This looks like it will be the new regional style, i imagine Midlands Today will follow next week, followed by the other regions in turn. I would imagine London will introduce the new package soon as they are using Swiss font on about 80% of the graphics, with the only exceptions being the name astons, sports, weather and travel graphics.
When Midlands Today used the national theme earlier on in the year i wonder if they were testing how that sort of theme would sit alongside the regional programmes, afterall the BBC love to conduct alot of there trials in the Midlands.

The headline bed inparticular - that had elements of the London music. They've retained the very fast beats on the title music which were heard on the previous London/NWT theme.
They've made a lot of noise about this relaunch - I don't remember the 2000 relaunch getting this much PR and the 2004 relaunch definitely didn't get as much publicity - not sure if it was even mentioned.
Yeah, it has been a big fuss made of the relaunch to NWT, I think it's the BBC recognising a severe gap in market in the north west and acting on it. It will be interesting to see how each and every other region take on board the new style, it's good to see various elements from the best of BBC News in my opinion.
The data streams of teh countdown, actually created by Red Bee for the News 24/World countdown, but implemented just as well by News 24 head designer Rob Shergold in the 2007 titles and now these.

The pullsating rings on the map cut of the new title sequence, by the way I love how all the news feeds in the graphics end up being routed to the hub at Manchester, great idea and well executed!
