Earlier this evening BBC Newsline and Wales Today joined forces... with a live OB from the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff transmitted on both programmes. Donna Traynor and Jamie Owen co-presented.

Has this kind of thing ever happened before with any other BBC National/Regional News programmes, or is this a first?

It all seemed to work quite well. Except for the end of Newsline where we saw the usual wide-shot of the studio... this normally works well as you can see the two presenters plus Angie (weather) and Stephen (sport). However with Donna, Stephen and Angie all on location poor old Mark Carruthers looked very alone Sad

Wales Today and News West did a joint programme from the Second Severn Crossing in 1996.

BBC Wales are old hands at it then. It all went quite well I thought.

Although... I have to ask... Is the LIVE aston on Wales Today meant to be that huge and horrible?

You didn't see it on the first day of the new look then, when it also had a moving background? Wink

The astons don't bother me, but the music is starting to annoy me. Far far far far far far to repetitive. Get's on your nerves after a while.

BBC Newsline did have a clean feed (Post DVE, Pre DSK) so they could add their own astons... I saw the Wales Today astons by channel hopping on Sky.
