Why do topics on this forum turn into bitching sessions over pathetic little things like spelling mistakes - Everybody knew what he meant, it has not achieved anything by correcting his spelling. For all you know this guy could have dyslexia at which point it is bullying.

Are there not Forum rules about procrastinating over peoples spelling?

Now I will take it back on topic.

The graphics IMHO are not as impressive as the previous ones. The tweak to the astons doesn't really bother me that much. However, I really gets wound up every time a programme has its name appear in the aston on screen. Especially the regional news programmes, where the name takes up two thirds of the bottom of the screen.

The majority of people who watch these programmes know what they are watching anyway - Why do we need to be constantly reminded. Besides you can find out at the press of a button on SKY, Virgin and Freeview. It's the same as having a channel dog, only worse, sometimes there is a channel dog as well (BBC World News).

I for one was rather impressed with both the incorrectly spelt and correctly spelt word, considering I've never seen either before. I was even more impressed that if you searched for his misspelling, the only results are linked to TV Forum.

It does also look like he was playing along a bit.

Ah, I do see we are famous among Google. Also, I was not playing along as such, and am actually quite amazed that we wasted a page on this. Usually the arguments aren't on as trivial things as this. And thank you SVRS for pointing this waste of space out. And to answer your inferred question, I don't have dyslexia.

I agree. Let's stop this horrible humour thing from the forum. From now on only pre-vetted jokes may be used e.g. hippy-shakes, let's purge those temp files, yellow peril and broken door & filthy carpet

No one was bitching, I just pointed out a specious error - and I don't think Critique required you to wade in. It was all being said in good humour - including his replies.

And Martin Anderson - I don't know what your immense beef with me is, but you've been following me around like some sleazy stalker attacking what I write.

Pot and kettle, eh?

If the Ignore function existed on these forums I would have you on the list, I was following this thread as I am a Newsnight viewer.

Anyway. Does BBC World News or BBC America, still show an edition of newsnight? If so have they taken on the new look?

There is such a function, it's called scrolling past and not reading.

BBC World News still do, BBC America don't, though. I should think they will take on the new look.

Didn't the international version have a different look anyway?

It did previously have a rather brash title sequence (with NEWSNIGHT in all-caps), but I believe that's been dropped.

And speaking of the programme itself, I caught a little bit of last night's edition - perhaps it's just because it was a budget special, but it seemed a lot pacier than usual. They seemed to have livened up proceedings, but without becoming too populist. Not a bad thing at all.
