Donna used to also 'moonlight' on BBC Northern Ireland's education series : Primary Focus. She mainly covered the geography programmes.
I believe Donna is deaf in one ear, I recall her doing a feature about deafness in whuch it was revealed.

Yes, I wondered what was going on there. Since BBC Northern Ireland don't bother having anyone available to cover the breakfast forecasts, they could at least have got London to take care of the graphics for the lunchtime and evening programmes too whilst they had problems with their own kit.
Yes, that would be the obvious solution. But no
Is there any hope of Newsline fixing that messed up BBC logo on their title sequence and ditching that stupid sting logo they use that fills almost the entire screen?
I wouldn't hold your breath.
And is it me or does that signature tune seem to be of very poor audio quality at times at the top of the programme?
I've not noticed that. The music should be of the same quality each time it is played. It is normally played live, followed by a live 'hello', with the following headline sequence being a pre-rec.
It is possible that sometimes the whole sequence... from opening titles, 'hello' two-shot, and the headlines sequence... could all be a pre-rec. That might have some slight effect in the audio quality. Either that, or there may be a fault somewhere.

when reporter james mcdonald broke shef's computer they used bulletin style summary captions, then the following day the graphics team tried to replicate the maps, which had stupidly oversized symbols and stoke on trent had moved into cheshire.
nowerdays they splash out on ex-gmtv weather man simon keeling when shef is anchoring or on hols. hes as camp as james mcdonald but less accident prone.

Didn't Midlands Today come up with some lash-up when Shefali's Mac went pear shaped last summer?

Don't get me wrong, I really like Donna Traynor, she is an excellent presenter and journalist.
She's still married to Ronan Kelly I believe, who I last saw reporting for UTV's religious series The Holy Ground in 2001. He was also on Downtown Radio for a while.
But back to Newsline, does Jim Fitzpatrick from the Politics Show still present the odd edition?

For those interested, Donna's on interactive tonight for Coast doing the Belfast walk. However, viewers outside the province should note that the Miranda girl presenting has no idea how to pronounce the river Belfast sits on. Its spelt Lagan - pron. Laggan, not Laygan as she'd have you think!!!

Funny story about that Coast show that was filmed on Sat.
Their Writers Square stop off was filmed right in the same location as to where the Belfast Gay Pride party was to begin.
Apparently their bit was filmed as the parade was off dandering around the streets, much to the BBC's unamusement when they found out it was taking place and demanded 3000 screaming queens be silent for it!
