I went to the BBC News on Tour last year in my city of Edinburgh and it was absolutely fantastic. I got to do the weather + a radio broadcast and I met Darren Brett + Jane Hill - which was great. I strongly recommend it. If you have an interest in news, current affairs and media (like me) then go along...you learn a lot about how BBC News works and also you get to have loads of fun!!

In Edinburgh last year there was Vision Mixing, Sound Mixing, camerawork, presenting, autocue operator, radio broadcast, weather forecast, online articles, talking to presenters and much more. Fantastic!

Well in truth there wasn't *much* more, but all those things you mentioned were indeed great fun an well introduced.

I'm not so happy that the event is out at the Ingleston showground as it is best served by car and not public transport. The fact too that (correct me if I am wrong), it is piggy-backing on the "truckfest" show means that the crowd might be a bit rowdy. Not that I've been to such a show so I really don't know.

I'll pop along for sure.

I hate to bump topics, but it's relevant now as they're on the road no doubt headed down to Pompy for the Fleet Review tommrow and the Festival of the Sea. Anyone going?

I can't go to the one in Edinburgh, anyway (am going to uni for a French course, yay!). That aside, what I really wanted to ask, just in case they come to the same venue next year, is: Is it actually within the showground? i.e. Do I have to pay to go to a Truckfest I don't want to go to in order to go to the News and Sport on Tour? I may sound stupid, but it was in the middle of the Meadows last year...

Don't forget that News and Sport On Tour kicks off this week - we're in Portsmouth at the International Festival of the Sea.

Didn't I just say that?

Well I must say, Nicky I feel sorry for your voice. You must have a sore throat talking almost non-stop all day. Very informative mind you, I know all about freeview and what the BBC News is now. Nice to put a real face to the name, but you seemed too busy to be interupted.
