Why not put World in A using the usual virtual desk set, and leave Newsnight in B as usual?

Does anyone know if WNA was due to air from Washington today?
It wouldn't be the first time that the Washington studio had been given a few days off around Thanksgiving.
Presumably while B can be used it cannot be used domestically for some reason as it'd be strange for a generic world news bulletin to take Newsnight studio if Newsnight could technically access it.

BBC World News not playing any reports just playing long interviews.

Just to be clear - there is no issue with outside sources being able to connect in to NBH. No particular studio is broken. The issue is that anything that wasn’t routed before BNCS went down - whether that’s an incoming source or a studio to a network can’t be changed. IFB / cue / return audio can’t be sent back to the correct place.

Radio has been badly affected as well as news output.

I suspected as much that the studios weren't broken directly, they just can't seem to be used for live output (so you can use them for preparations, testing things and other pre-prepared recordings etc).

I’d imagine all programmes have a designated backup studio and that is probably selected in sort based around what studios would usually be available at the time the programme airs. I think Newsnight, like the Marr Show, sometimes pre reco4d interviews in Studio A and so have an adequate setup available to them - in the same way we know that weekend network new bulletins and the news channel have a setup for studio D available.

Presumably this explains being able to cross to Salford for Sports news. I’m guessing it’s an almost, if not permanent, outside source to at Studio E at the least.

In theory yes - but you’d need your studio output to be recorded somewhere. If BNCS is down that can’t be done!

I assume this is why we're not getting any lives into the 10 from the likes of Kuenssberg, Adler or Doucet tonight.

Oh, so even if BNCS is down, you can't make a local recording of an interview within that studio, to a PC that's used within it and then somehow export that to a CD/flash drive and make use of it in reports that get played back elsewhere? So effectively, the studios they're not using can't be used because they have no way to export their content to be used?

We had a live on-location broadcast from Paul Adams at the UAE Embassy in London though Confused

We had Katya Adler live from Brussels and Paul Adams live from the UAE Embassey after his report, then Emma Vardey live from Belfast.

All the stops have been pulled out for this it would seem.

Just after I post that, there's one from Emma Vardy outside Bombardier in Belfast... I suppose that could have been set up before the problems started.
