Don't like he's ploughing on by calling it Outside Source even though everything that makes it Outside Source isn't there, especially when using standard BBC News headline music and titles!

I agree, that bit is kinda pointless, but I guess they need to stay on brand for World News. I am actually surprised they can't do their basic on-screen graphics in the style they use when they are presenting outside the studio (eg Jo Cox death, Germany Elections, Italy migrant issue etc).

Ros Atkins presenting Outside Source from the desk in E in the style of a normal bbc news bulletin. Is this the first time Ros has presented from E?

He's always presented from J (the balcony) or one of the other studios, I have never once seen him in E. He actually looks like a natural person to be presenting in E, just based on the fact OS always comes from the balcony.

Based on his comment though, it looks like, they're not looking to get any broadcasts running from any of the other usual broadcasting locations and all the bulletins will be coming from E, at least until tomorrow. I guess overnight they will be continuing to work as hard as possible to get the issue resolved, otherwise all of the bulletins tomorrow will be disrupted.

Newsnight from Millbank will be interesting.

I'm surprised that they are doing it from the desk, not from the catwalk screens so it at least looks a little bit like the normal set up.

The big question now is what they are doing for the Ten, as they aren't going to get their usual prep/rehearsal time in E.

Most likely they are "prepping" by using another studio that's not working. The cameras and screens most likely work, they just can't seem to actually broadcast live out from them (it would be strange if the technical issue completely disabled several studios from being used in any way at all), at least from how I'm understanding. So they can probably use Studio C since nobody is using it? If not, they have Millbank on stand by.

Doesn't the A gallery normally run OS?

Dunno if it's just me, but all the camera shots don't seem to be what would be "normally" done in Studio E? Shots across to the TV screen from behind Ben seem extremely zoomed in (to the point where Ben/the TV are just barely "completely" in the shot), compared to normal broadcasts, and they seem to be getting moved manually as well?

Looks like also the Papers this evening will be simulcasting to World News, due to a pointed reference about "UK Time", so they're seemingly expecting the issue to not be fixed any time soon.

And the words 'British Prime Minister' etc.

Ben would've been better welcoming viewers of BBC World News to the BBC News channel, at least making it clear to viewers.

I wonder if World will also take the 10?

Don't they usually have World News America at 10pm UK time? I can't imagine that being affected.

Good point-At least that would allow the Ten and the first edition of The Papers to go out as planned on the News Channel-it's what happens at 11:00 which will be interesting (which is the point where NewsDay happens on World and it looks like World will have to take Episode 2 of The Papers tonight from what Ben Brown was saying earlier.)

So this from 1615 is relevant to the issue then.

Would the Ten be able to do it's rehearsals from Studio A?

Is that feasible given the state of Studio E being taken up with Ros Atkins on OS?

How did the Six do with it's bulletin tonight and rehearsals?

It wasn't mentioned in the thread, but the 4.30pm weather bulletin from Ben Rich in Afternoon Live was a messed up bulletin as well. The weather clip just ran on like a movie that seemed to be uncontrollable by the Studio E gallery staff. Whatever the issue is, it has significantly disrupted broadcasting in W1, forcing basically all broadcasts to come from E. Does that mean E doesn't run through the previously mentioned broadcast system, making it unaffected and usable for all broadcasting needs on World and NC?

News at Six seemed to run normally (Ben Brown moved to the sidewalk around about quarter to 6, presumably for Sophie to set up and prep in the studio, although there's a high chance they ran a prep test in C, if that was out of commission already by that point?),, but weather was presented by Ben in the green screen studio and not in E as is normal, further implying technical issues. I can't see A being usable, because then you could say OS could have come from there using the green screens to impart its graphics onto, if they were able to?

I don't think so. It looks like they can't route any studios to do anything live. I seem to recall studio E is isolated from the servers/ways the other galleries and studios are routed in the building as a contingency.

We've seen it before when E goes up the shoot, that the other studios aren't affected and vice versa.

Looking in the background behind Ros in the newsroom, the screens normally displaying video sources from AP and Reuters keep going black and then cycle through a range of different colours.

Seems that BNCS has had a "catastrophic failure" affecting routing things like, ironically, outside sources, and studios to output streams.

I think more likely we will see NewsDay on the NC at 23:00.

The thing that is making the least sense is that Global (and presumably Focus on Africa) were able to come from studio B after the fault had occurred but it seems Newsnight will not be able to do so for some reason.
