BBC News at Five with Ben Brown is coming from Studio E today. It normally presents from C, has it ever been presented from E in the past?

I hear that there's a rather major problem with BNCS, the BBC's router control system, in W1. Newsnight might have to decamp to Millbank if it's not fixed soon.

If true, would that affect News at Six/News at Ten, requiring them to decamp to Millbank as well?

Yes I do distinctly remember it being presented from there on at least 1 occasion in the past.

For whatever reason also still using pre-recorded shots of the newsroom at the top and bottom of the hour, as they would if in Studio C and without access to the trundle camera. Surprised they've never updated the shots - you can tell they're from 2013 as the viewing area/lobby above Studio E doesn't have the red band applied directly to the glass around it. There was nothing at all when the studio launched, then some red fabric barriers, and then they applied the vinyl (or similar).

The studio is also not using News at 5 graphics on the side screens or newswall - I thought there was a clever bit of software that meant a template for one studio could be applied to another? Definitely recall seeing an hour clearly meant for Studio E coming from Studio C in the past, and subsequently the camera moves being like those used in Studio E - the TOTH wide shot of the studio in particular is quite different in E than C.

EDIT: The pre-BBC One bulletin shot of a close-up of the presenter on the catwalk at 10 to 6, followed by a full playout of an interview with a professor at Durham University recorded in the field, then straight to the weather. Not very often the weather presenter gets to timecheck!

Don't think I've ever seen a weather presenter back anno'ing a report either just before presenting the weather itself.

That rare case of a weather presenter saying "You're watching BBC News, it's X minutes to <next top of the hour>, let's look at the weather", actually it works out better than the news presenter doing it most of the time, especially when the weather is being broadcast live and isn't a recording. Very Happy

It's extremely rare, I think in the last 2 years I've been consistently watching the channel, it's only happened once? That's excluding the live weather at midnight, and often the weather bulletin at 2pm at weekends. The only time I directly recall the presenter for the weather saying "You're watching BBC News" was when Matt Taylor's midnight broadcast rolled straight into Newsday with no countdown, but again, super rare.

I think it's happened on occasion, as has them introducing a bottom of the hour programme but normally in this situation they use a wipe to end the report and just have the presenter do the forecast.

No Beyond 100 Days as Christian Fraser is presenting a standard bulletin from E.
