Right, did that actually air on the news?

Pretty sure it didn't. I can only assume it was filmed whilst the one o'clock news was on (which came from N6 then whilst News 24 was in N8 ), seeing as Jane and Matthew were the presenters.

Something I would like to know is how complicated the change in programmes in TC7 was before BARCOs. Were they completely different sets or was it simply adding different panels, desks and lighting?

Do you have a link anywhere? Would like to see that!
Just had to go and watch the full thing after this thread.

When did BBC News start using TC7?

Was it always the kiddies studio before then?

Were all the BBC London based Saturday morning kids shows in there?

Breakfast and Working Lunch at one time used the same set which just had different panels inserted. I have a feeling that Newsnight also used it for a little while: again with different panels. Unfortunately I can't find any pictures of either.

Later on, the Newsnight and Breakfast sets were opposite each other, and were left standing all the time.

In the early-mid 2000s the various programmes that came from TC7 all had unique sets. They included Breakfast, Newsnight, Working Lunch, Newsround, Breakfast with Frost, On The Record. There was a lot of set striking in between programmes!

Must have been a nightmare compared to the BARCOs.

In 2006 when N6 was refurbished, the nationals moved into TC7 I seem to remember, having their set opposite Breakfast's. It's quite surprising it all fit, although the nationals' set seemed to be much smaller than the BARCOs.

When that happened though, Breakfast lost Moira's separate news desk, and with it the long piece of wall that was behind it, leaving just the walls behind the sofa. The two sets would have been pretty close together, with the cameras standing in one set when the other was in use.

Where do the weekend BBC1 bulletins come from, they aren't simulcast right?

Weekend BBC1 bulletins come from N6 and are simulcast with the News Channel.

Unless the NC is following a breaking story at the time of a BBC One bulletin, in which case it would either simulcast with WN from N8 (if it's an international story) or provide continued coverage via N10 (or is it called N0?) the CSO studio used for Red Button headline sequences/BBC Three 60 Seconds)

When have they ever used N10 on the NC? Do you have an example? When I've tuned in, in that sort of situation, they've gone to the simulcast instead? (N8, they used the other week for the Whitney Houston funeral!)

Another example is often during weekends and the early evenings, if a big breaking story takes place (normally international) - the News channel presenter will often be joined by the World News presenter and they double head (quite often from N6, but sometimes N eight). Times when this has happened included, as stated above the Whitney Houston funeral where Nicholas Owen (NC) decamped to the World studio with their presenter, mainly because the service was going on so long it would have caused problems with the BBC1 bulletins. Other instances have included the Michael Jackson death, when Martine Croxall was joined by Tim Willcox (who was on World) to double head across both services. Others have included the death of Osama Bin Laden, the Japanese Earthquake and the Chilean Miners rescue (which was predominently done on location but parts were done with Chris Eakin of the News channel in N8 with Mike Embley of World News).

Sadly they wouldn't be able to do that now - with the fake computer generated Newsroom that N6 and TC7 use., I never understood why they just couldn't use a live camera with a wide angled lens for the newsroom backdrop in N6 and TC7.

Does an N10 exist? I've heard of a TC10, which News 24 did use in 2003 while N8 was being re-designed.
