I think of you took the Barco screens out this would free up a bit more space as they don't sit right back tight against the studio wall. I remember seeing a video timelapse of the screens being installed in TC7 somewhere, there was certainly enough space to easily walk behind them.

Yes, there has to be a 'fire walk' around the edge of any TV studio: but isn't this space also used for maintenance access to the Barco cubes in TC7 and N6?

Another reason it seemed larger in the L&K days could also be due to the second level in most of those sets, but also because the BBC News set is so brutally rectangular it really shows the size of the studio, you can't do as many sneaky perspective / angle tricks to make things seem larger than they actually are.

Studio 7 always looked compact in the L&K days. When did it move to TC3?

It didn't. It moved to TC6 for Series 5, which I think was 1997.

N9 - currently mothballed, occasionally used when maintenance is being done in other studios etc.

That's quite a few computer screens in a desk! Is there any reason why there's so many? Also what's with the blue screen!?! Confused

Well, that's the back of Bio-Dimbleby's Head so one would assume its got something to do with Local Elections?

The blue screen would be "GATES" inferior computer system.

Worth mentioning that a significant amount of that shot doesn't really exist but is keyed on top to hide the cameras etc.

What studio was it the Jeremy Clarkson drove behind in the Peel P50?

N8, which is where News 24 used to be

Right, did that actually air on the news?

N8 - but it was laid out quite differently back in 2007, was used by News 24 back then.

EDIT: Sorry, pipped to the post! No, it won't have been broadcast.

Pretty sure it didn't. I can only assume it was filmed whilst the one o'clock news was on (which came from N6 then whilst News 24 was in N8 ), seeing as Jane and Matthew were the presenters.

Something I would like to know is how complicated the change in programmes in TC7 was before BARCOs. Were they completely different sets or was it simply adding different panels, desks and lighting?
