The one day strike by BBC News staff scheduled for Monday has been called off:

Which is *perhaps* slightly related to Martha Kearney taking up WATO from April - the number of redundancies was "reduced" (why they couldn't reduce it to zero......) and a couple of Newsnight jobs were under threat.

What's happening to Shaun Ley? He's taken over excellently in difficult circumstances, and I've grown to really like his style.

Fridays and Sundays apparently. You'd imagine he'll find other programmes or projects with which to fill another 2-3 days a week and be on standby for WATO/PM etc.
