With this strike I presume the whole of the BBC One presenting team will walk ( Anna/Darren Sophie/Geogre/Sian (There three of us in this relationship you know) and Huw/Fiona

Or are some still remaining....

It's hard to imagine that they would break the strike, but you never know.

Would be interesting to see the BBC's team of managers presenting the main national bulletins anyway.

even if they did break the strike, would there be anyone there to produce the bulletins. It's okay that Media Guardian have quoted that the news will be hacked down to just 5 mins of regional, and 15 mins of national, but who's reporting on the stories, where is the news actually coming from if no-body is manning the newsdesks, what about live links, then production and direction? On screen pres I think is the beeb's last of their worries...

Take newsnight for example. No news, so no show.

Well I understand that some have been asked to prepare reports for tomorrow, hence the Unions issuing guidlines on the issue. But like you said this will be one hell of a proportion of the Newsroom gone.
BBC Managers cetainly will have one big problem, but as I've said before its worth remembering that there will only be ONE news feed for that day. BBC World/ News 24/ National shall all merge into one, with lots to repeats and reported bulletins.
Hows feeling at grass root BBC Centres - regionals etc. Im quite looking forward to see if Geoff the camera man on Midlands Today finally gets his big break.

Midlands Today, and BBC Radio WM will be very heavily affected from what I've heard. I may pop up to the Mailbox for a nose to see what's happening tomorrow. Should be an interesting day.

I just think due to the complexity of the whole news operation, I think tomorrow we will be very lucky to see anything on News 24, I personally think the National set will be used.

Although I personally think maybe a bit more still at the BBC but maybe on the radio front, So possibly Edward Stornton, Robin Lustig or maybe even if they are really desperate.... Mark Peerrccy! ( I joke )

Ed Stourton and Robin Lustog are hightly respected Radio 4 presenters. They aren't desperate for anything.

I wonder how the BBC website will be affected - it could be very slow to put any breaking news online, i would imagine...

I think you will see the N24 set used, becuase it is the most common set ready to be utilised for continuous service. I think I am right in thinking that the Gallery for the N24 set is far more streamlined and requires less staff to operate, although does the N24 set have network opt-ing management capability?

I'm sure someone will correct me on this....

I guess the information will just not be updated, perhaps a message explaining the situation?

Yes it does. Any studio can, as it goes via BBC One presentation, and if talkback is sent out to the regions. But if noone in the regions is listening, then there will be no opts.

Forget about complex things like that tomorrow anyway.

It's ture that N8 and N9 **could** be run by only 2 people, but those people need to know what they're doing. A manager who used to do the job 5 years ago would be totally lost today.

That's what I thought, I guess it depends on the staff that are present and can they adopt to the present system used in the News 24 gallery.
