The slimed down BBC News has provided a very good service today - I've probably watched more BBC News today than all year.
I find having regular 30-minute bulletins every hour far more appealing than the rolling service I can get via Sky and ITV.
One thing that does annoy me though (not just at times of strikes!) - why do they go to such great length to avoid "BBC News 24" branding on BBC World, but seem to actively encourage it on BBC 1.

Because it may confuse people throughout the world who won't have a clue what BBC News 24 is!

It's just programme promotion as BBC World viewers can't see News 24 legally. However it's encouraged on BBC domestic thanks to digital TV.

Come off it, you think someone watching an international news channel - and therefore likely to be of above average intelligence anyway - can't work out that the BBC operate other channels?
I can't get CNN America, but it doesn't shock me when CNNI throw over to them.
No Matter what we think of the strike the three presenters, Aktar Khan, Susan Osman and Stephen Cole have to be congratulated on the efforts that they have done today.
Will the usual 11pm - 2am presenter take over at midnight?
