Will we see lots of BBC World presentation such as idents and breakfiller?

Well it's not as good as 2001, so I think you can leave out the kleenex.

Harshy, you are an absolute idiot. Not only have your comments about wanting Tony Blair dead in the other thread shown this to be the case, but all you're worried about is the way News 24 or BBC World will look on Monday, when around 4000 people's jobs are on the line.

Grow up, and stop making stupid, ridiculous comments.

Whilst the comment Harsy agreed with about Tony Blair was pretty idotic, there is nothing idotic about being bothered about how the BBC will look on Monday, this forum is a presentation forum and is about that foremostly.

Indeed, 4000 jobs are on the line, but if it doesn't directly affect Harshy why should he (or anyone else) put that before TV presentation on a TV presentation?

Because without these people there would be no TV pres to talk about.

I'm not disputing that and I'm not saying it isnt important to remember that, I just think the comment towards Harshy was made more because of his response to that Tony Blair comment.

No, my comments to Harshy were because he consistantly writes stupid crap.

I understand this forum is about news presentation, but sometimes there are things a bit more important than whether BBC World will have more break fillers on Monday then they usually do; or whether Breakfast will be presented by Bill and Sian, etc.

This is someone who obviously doesn't work in the industry, is probably a student, and probably thinks he knows better than everyone else. He probably thinks it's a great laugh that BBC staff are striking on Monday.

Hello Dog, please can you look at this link

I have made an apology because whilst I may not like Tony Blair, I let my own personal anger got in the way and made what has to be the most distasteful comment i've ever made on TV Forum ever, so I am a total fool and deserved to be criticism that has been put to me.

Yes you are absolutely right, I work as a web developer, I was looking to have a career at the BBC, but I very much doubt this will happen, so I am carrying on in my present job whilst looking elsewhere.

I was a student, I am now 25 years old and really I should have more sense to be making comments like that, but I was pretty pissed off that day for various reasons, but I let my anger slip through, and this was totally stupid of me, I look at it and thing what the fook I have done there, but I haven't edited out, rather I want to use this as an example to anyone else who make daft comments like I did and the consequences are dire as you lose repect from your fellow TV Forum members, I very much respect opinion from within the industry like yourself DOG, so your criticism I take very seriously indeed.

As to the other comment, I thing you will find if you knew me I am a very humble person who helps other people in time of need, obviously my personality will never shine through words, that particular post you are referring to was purely about presentation as my fellow TV Forum member Ben said, it was not my intention to offend anyone(well I am doing a bad job recently)

I certainly don't think that people's livelyhoods that are on the line is a laughing matter, because at the end of the day, it affects them and their families and their future aspirations, I should know just how hard it is to get to the top, and I am still at the bottom of the career ladder two years after graduating.

BTW Dog, I don't know which posts you are referring to about Bill and Sian, considering I have very limited access to BBC UK services, I only have access to BBC World and others and very little as regards to UK TV presentation, I am sorry you feel that I write constant crap, it has to be said my recent behaviour has been totally crap.

Again I would like to sincerely apologise to my fellow TV Forum members and if you think I should not contribute, then I will leave TV Forum for good.

Thanks,

harshy

Swiftly moving on.....

Am I correct in thinking that these strikes will take place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday?
The guy from Radio Shropshire only said Monday was the strike dates.

I'm quite intrested to see who takes over on BBC News for the day, I presume all three main news feeds (World, News 24 and BBC One) will be coming from the News 24 set?

Anway Monday is only two days away and It'll be intresting to see how effective the strike is and furthermore if management suddenly feel compelled to have a change of heart.

Harshy,

I think most will be big enough to accept your apology and to admire you for making it.

Thank you Marcus, as I said I do very much respect comments made by people in the industry, and on TV Forum, and my behaviour has been pathetic recently.

Just Monday this week. The following week there will be a 48 hour strike assuming the dispute is still on by then

Pretty much spot on. And an extreme shortage of producers/reporters/presenters/crews/picture editors/directors etc.... going in and breaking the strike. A handful of managers will try and keep some service on air (despite most of them agreeing with the strike), but they'll be wrestling with technology that many of them are - at best - unfamiliar with. The challenges will be basic things like getting the right instructions into scripts for the automated systems to work, recording what they want to record, getting the right pictures on air at the right time, getting the pictures from a live signal (and the return sound) routed from the sat dish on the roof into a studio.

It'll be an interesting time - and you're likely to notice the difference from 0001 on Sunday night/Monday morning on News 24.

That's very true since the gallery is not the traditional type, it will be tough no doubt about it especially with the advanced technology now adopted by BBC News for it's 24hr services.
