They're showing some sort of program with a guy on a ship. There's no graphics on screen and also the EPG is displaying only generic information.

Why not use the generic BBC NEWS Dog used on Weekend 24?

BBC News has coped very well so far, there have not been many cockups and I think the one presenter layout is good and should be used more in the daytimes on N24.

Think it might be a question of if it 'aint broke don't fix it! I mean if it were to crash they would be up the preverbal creek - Just look at the "In-Breif" caption this morning, that took the tower with it.

Anyway Monday is rapidly drawing to a close and I for one shall be interested to see if management does make some concessions in the following days.

Well the BBC are reporting, heh, that the management have called for further talks with the unions.

Stephen Cole presenting from 5pm

And then he should take us through to midnight, So he'll be covering the 6 and 10....

I not sure if anyone is in the Midlands but is there any further news on the planned output? Last I heard BBC Brum had stopped completly and had cancelled the 2 MT updates. Is this still the case?

Does anyone know what the scene is like in Nottingham. Could the BBC not merge the midlands with the East Midlands like they did when the midlands moved to the mailbox?

that would be rather pointless, as the bulletin is only a few minutes long - there'd only be time for hello, west mids story, east mids story, goodbye.

bbc mids, like everywhere else have implemented plans for today, and judging by radio 2 overnight and bbc wm this morning, the plans are working so far. as hinted at earlier, several potential people able to read the news have been identified, so itll be interesting to see what happens.

Although with the background to these strikes and the importance they play in many peoples eyes, It is very interesting watching what comes out of the woodwork; A bit like - BBC Talent Day!
I mean take Achbur Khan this morning, He was excellent and I'm sure he'll become hot property soon.

Or maybe he won't, many will see him as a scab and won't touch him.

I thought he was OK, a bit wooden when i first saw him, but that was when he had been on air for hours and hours.

Akhtar Khan (So many ways of spelling that first name...) has presented News 24 first, IIRC with the previous studio with Maxine Mawhinney at the 1-3pm stages before.

All regions got My Family starting at 6.30. BBC NI had 5 mins of Newsline with Rose Neill in her pearls and a recorded weather forecast from Angie Phillips.

He's enjoying himself now, Stephen Cole. Doing a good job. He just did a rather good 2 way with Tanya Beckett in New York, during which he looked into the camera side on with a grin.. "At the risk of stepping into Click Online territory here..." before rambling on abut Apple Mac.

He's doing well.
