Stephen Cole presenting from 5pm

And then he should take us through to midnight, So he'll be covering the 6 and 10....

I not sure if anyone is in the Midlands but is there any further news on the planned output? Last I heard BBC Brum had stopped completly and had cancelled the 2 MT updates. Is this still the case?

Does anyone know what the scene is like in Nottingham. Could the BBC not merge the midlands with the East Midlands like they did when the midlands moved to the mailbox?

that would be rather pointless, as the bulletin is only a few minutes long - there'd only be time for hello, west mids story, east mids story, goodbye.

bbc mids, like everywhere else have implemented plans for today, and judging by radio 2 overnight and bbc wm this morning, the plans are working so far. as hinted at earlier, several potential people able to read the news have been identified, so itll be interesting to see what happens.

BBC World is showing a new edition of Hardtalk which will be shown on N24 tonight at 11:30

BBC News 24 is showing a repeat of Hardtalk extra from two weeks ago.

Although with the background to these strikes and the importance they play in many peoples eyes, It is very interesting watching what comes out of the woodwork; A bit like - BBC Talent Day!
I mean take Achbur Khan this morning, He was excellent and I'm sure he'll become hot property soon.

Or maybe he won't, many will see him as a scab and won't touch him.

I thought he was OK, a bit wooden when i first saw him, but that was when he had been on air for hours and hours.

As someone who has named themselves after an as-yet non existant radio station won by the Wireless Group under the leadership of one Kelvin McKenzie, your post doesn't suprise me.

Sorry I can't be more diplomatic, but you're a w*nker.

"Dunedin" is the ancient name of Edinburgh, from where I post this message to you. The fact that the idiotic **** that is Kelvin McKenzie picked it as his station's name is frankly irrelvant.

It's rather like saying that calling myself "British" I have close relations to the BBC.

The level of your idiocy is astounding- I'm sure your bosses really aren't missing much useful work today.

And as for your username- nah......that's just too easy.

I love it when wanna-be know it alls try to large it. The best of luck to you.

Those backing the strike should remember a few points:

- the BBC has a higher 'head count' (yes, including managers) than any other state broadcaster in the world.
- many of the 000's of jobs are in back office functions
- The bbc had more HR staff than ANY private sector UK company
- The 'cost per hour' of BBC programming (incl ALL overheads) is 3 times the European state broadcaster average. If you strip out high profile production talent contracts (actor/writer/director) it is above that of all the major US networks.

- its funded by a universal Tax (license fee) which is NOT levied on ability to pay.
- by audience appreciation/ability to access, pound -for-pound MORE is spent on programming accessed by a minority (AB £50,000+ Above Av Income for example) than programming accessed/appreciated by lower income groups.

basically: low income families, pensioners and single parents are paying for the likes of Kirsty Warks BBC4 Culture shows on a ratio of 13:1

You cant keep spending other peoples money without consequences, and should value the people paying for it all...US.

Not to say the job cuts are going in the right places, Its not. But the unions are saying NO cuts.

BTW, thought Susan did a good job at 1, and it was refreshing not to see the enless, pointless 2 ways to reporters to read a single sentance.
