No. They're run by their co-owner Flextech.
Though they're staffed by BBC people in the Broadcast Centre; albeit they're all totally automatic.

I understand they are run in the same way the fully owned Flextech channels are.

You can understand what you like son, but the UKTV channels are played out from the BBC Broadcast Centre, staffed by BBC staff.

Totally agree!
So 'it's quiet, not much to tell you' (that was the entire report at 7am) is a higher quality service, is it?
Jesus, sometimes I wonder about you lot.
They've been giving travel updates all day- your one off 7am bulletin is unrepresentative...answer me this- why do the BBC pay for people to read out pretty much the same travel reports on Radio Five Live and Radio Two and seemingly ask both sets of listeners for updates from the roads (which they they don't seem to share?). It's a bizarre waste of money, and a small example of why some of these job cuts are entirely justified.
Outsource travel news across BBC Radio and read it out at the end of news summaries- IRN have been doing it for years.

Just back to Five Live- the temporary service proves that Travel reporters can all be sacked- the newsreaders surprisingly don't struggle to add in a bit of travel news into the ends of their bulletins before the sport.

At least he's brave enough to be honest.
While I don't want to make assumptions and it is a personal decision, it would be quite likely that Evan Davis had similar thoughts. He oftens talks about which large companies/businesses/corporations in the private sector needing to slimline and concentrate elsewhere etc. as it's his job as economics editor.
If he accepted the BBC's business case for the cuts, then fair enough.
Quite right - hardly appropriate for them to report thousands of job losses at Rover etc and then walk out on strike themselves. Might be why lots of the business reporters and presenters seem to be working today...

they've managed to get a couple of scab sport hacks to show their real colours.
I never understood how branding people who don't conform to your (a striker's I'm going to assume) set of ideas as "scabs" works to your advantage. They're entitled to their opinions just as you are to yours, and perhaps those opinions are that striking isn't the appropriate way to get the message across. This abuse of such people just makes strikers look like arrogant fools.

the Justin Leigh phone-in on BBC Radio Devon this lunchtime was replaced by a recorded classical music concert - so I'm guessing South West viewers might not see Justin if they do have a regional opt out in tonight's 6pm news.
If they pull the regional news this evening... what will they show?
