My bet's on her being replaced at 6 by Akhtar..
Yes I think that's very likely.

So is Akhtar the old face from BBC World, or is he/she still to appear?

Akhtar Khan is a regular BBC News preseneter. He did the overnight shift from Sun-Mon.

BBC Press Office Website posted:
As the new face of BBC World's Fast Track, Akhtar Khan joins the channel's weekly global round-up of travel news for both the leisure and business sectors.

In addition to fronting Fast Track, Akhtar is reporter and news presenter on the BBC's domestic 24-hour rolling news channel, News 24, and presents his own show on the BBC Asian Network radio station.

No-one will be able to capture any graphics or stings until the TOTH as they are showing recorded progs at the moment. Anyway, the graphics have been a real mixture with occasional countdowns and some mistakes.

Just back to Five Live- the temporary service proves that Travel reporters can all be sacked- the newsreaders surprisingly don't struggle to add in a bit of travel news into the ends of their bulletins before the sport.

I'm surprised that nobody has commented that, if the BBC can just about pull off a simulacast between BBC1 and News 24 at 1pm that the previously mooted idea of a more permanent move to that arrangement might not end up back on the cards.

Can we presume that both the 7 o'clock news on BBC3 and The World on BBC4 will just simply be replaced?

Don't really care about the World, but I'd pay for Paddy O'Connell doing a 30 minute ad-lib to camera (without any news reports). It could be a whole new programme idea- improvised news.

As far as I'm aware, there will be no news at all on BBC Three, and The World will not go out on BBC Four.

I also suggest that your new idea of a programme would be greatly added to with a regular weather forecast from Eddie Mair. Laughing

Declan Curry has spoken about why he broke the picket line to do the business reports on this mornings slimline Breakfast;

From Media Guardian:
"Curry, the only presenter to turn up for work on BBC1's breakfast show, said he did not support the strike and hoped fellow workers would respect his decision.

"I don't support the strike at all. The management have made a very strong case in my view as to why these cuts are necessary. It's other people's money that we are spending and we have to use it as wisely as we can.

"Whatever differences we may have with management, it is up to use to resolve them in a way that does not leave the viewer or the listener suffering.

"There are genuine differences of opinion and I respect my colleagues who have decided to strike and I hope they don't hold my decision not to against me."

The report also goes on to mention other correspodents that have crossed the picket line.
