Not as 'smooth' as it usually is - about a second of silence between the end of the countdown and headline bed together with black screen where one of the videos are supposed to be - I take it the managers are now in control of the desk?

Usual countdown on N24 into.... some weird asian man who doesn't know where the camera is. Looks live.

Looks live but a really clumsy headline round-up with an awkward gap, the screen going blank for 10 seconds, missing VT and a presenter who doesn't look like or act like he's ever been on TV before.
Could be teething problems to start with, so shouldn't be slated yet.
BBC World and News 24 are still broadcasting the same programme, but this one is live. However the two normally merge at this time of night anyway - it's the quality of presentation which is up for debate.
And no, hopefully we won't keep up this level of detail all night - it's just the early stages that I'm keeping a particular eye on.

It is indeed Akhtar Khan.... who was on News 24 a few years ago, then got moved onto ther travel programme.
The director is a bloke from World who doesn't agree with the strike. Surprisingly senior editorial managers are doing the output, struggling with the kit. Impressively, they've managed to get the right insets on the top two stories. Autocue staff aren't employed by the BBC but by Autocue.
This is just recycling material that was already in the system. A bigger test will be when new stories come along in the morning.

EDIT: is WORLD carrying this?? If this is a Live news24 newscast, it's strange UK news with Germany as the top story!
It'll only be one stream all day from News 24 - for 24, World and the BBC1 bulletins. The level of automation means fewer people are needed (assuming they can get the material into the system in the first place - no test of that so far)
