Janice Long has begun her show (apparently without anyone to produce it) and presumably from a studio adjacent to the one Phil Williams has just left

She seemed quite pleased to be on-air Evil or Very Mad

And the Radio 4 news has just finished but I didn't catch who the newsreader was (David someone) but whoever he is he's doing continuity as well.

That's quite normal, Radio 4 announcers read some of the bulletins as well

Very very interesting. BBC News 24 and BBC World are running a shared recorded programme, but at 26 minutes past the hour there was a very long, extended awkward gap after "This is BBC News". Then the presenter went into UK stories. Presumably World are opting out at 26 past midnight, and four minutes of UK stories are being shown while they're away.

It looks like Radio 2 have a presenter, but no other studio staff. The presenter just said that you could only contact her by email, although I don't know why texts or phone wouldn't work, I do all those when i'm in studio.

Wasn't that big a gap. 5 seconds maximum.

More like the UK news will run for about 35 mins, and that this tape will run each hour overnight.

Edit: or not, as is the case.

But was that on News 24 an hour ago or did they record this especially for its post-midnight repeat?

Aha, making good use of the 'loop' feature on their system - they're now showing the last half hour again

Well they have said 'At 2300GMT, the BBC will strike' so it was shown earlier definately.

Interesting that 5 Live have got half hour news and sport. Some scab manager is in pressing the buttons.

Yep, its interesting how your opinions of people can be subtly altered in situations like this... I'll be amazed (and rather disappointed) if Alex Lester turn ups at 3am (or Wogan, Bruce, Jeremy Vine, etc).

It may be easier for higher profile presenters to stay away - I know Radio Kent have a couple of non-news shows being produced live tomorrow.

Yeah. It went off, then on, then finally off again.

The UK news on News 24 finished, and within two seconds after a sting the presenter re-appeared to give the World headlines again, before saying "full details in 30 minutes". It's almost as if the UK news is being treated as a regional opt-out. I assume a recorded programme will be on next.
