BBC News special on Auschwitz

I see the BBC News special on Auschwitz simulcasted on BBC2 and News 24 has removed the tower at the bottom of the screen and replaced it with the original BBC News 24 dog at the top left hand of the screen. Having seen this for the first time in what seems like ages. I much prefer this and it seems a lot cleaner and obviously doesn't take as much room up.

I'm surprised to see the BBC News 24 logo on BBC Two. I would have thought they wouldn't show the logo on BBC Two.

It's not really ages, as it was used as recently as less than a month ago for the 3 minutes silence silmulcast. It does appear that they prefer to use the traditional DOG for more sombre events, rather than have a big red square stuck on scene.

The stripped DOG is often used overnight during ABC World News Tonight.

And appeared on the wrong side of the screen during the US election coverage.

They used this as it went out on BBC World too, they had a transparant DOG on as usual.
