Is there a chance that they could look at broadcasting the nine on the news channel also to reduce news channel costs and extend the audience?

It saves approximately £0 to simulcast an irrelevant Scottish bulletin rather than a slightly relevant world bulletin. If it was literally any other hour you may have a point but there are no savings to be made from simulcasting the nine when OS has to be made anyway.

Have you ever watched The Nine? The bulletin while being produced in Scotland also looks at the top world news stories from a Scottish perspective. It's far away from the provincial nonsense on Reporting Scotland as is possible. A bulletin that is focused on Scotland, the wider UK and the world is more relevant to British audiences on the NC than the shoehorning of Outside Source.

I am 100% for replacing Outside Source with The Nine. I mean I'd replace OS with the testcard and it would be an improvement but The Nine is actually excellent bar the titles.
NicB1971, Woodpecker and all new Phil gave kudos

Absolutely not. I’m fine with looking wider rather than narrower. Outside Source is a fresh, interesting look on the day’s news presented by one of the BBC’s best anchors.

Regional news should not be broadcast on a national channel.

It isn't regional news, really it isn't! It's a national news bulletin for Scotland with UK and international news utilising the full resources of BBC News. Katya Adler has as much chance of being on the running order as the local correspondent for Aberdeen.

Considering some of the comments on here, the perception that it's a regional news programme clearly isn't helping either.

I like the programme too. The WS Radio version of it is also enjoyable.

I think World News Today would be better in the OS slot in the pre-100 Days format

World News Today would be better in a graveyard, it is even more outdated than the generic world bulletins and they could do with a rebrand really.
