What would be the benefit of dumping Mishal from Sundays if you retain a separate presenter? I doubt her TV work makes up much of her salary and presumably she wants to retain it or she'd have gotten out of it years ago. I also doubt that Huw would return to 4 days a week.
I also very much doubt that the schedule will be as neat as that, and expect something along these lines

Another error by myself. I had no idea there was a radio show called NewsDay on Radio. PHEW!
As I understand it, Newsday (TV) hasn’t been mentioned at all. Previously it was on World News only at 2300 then simulcast on News Channel at 0000 and 0100.

I guess Newsday (the television version) will return at some point, in some form or another. The slot will definitely remain simulcast, whatever the name of the programme filling it.

Carrie has openly suggested that she is fed up with the BBC so that wouldn't be much of a surprise (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/03/03/carrie-gracie-nearing-end-road-bbc/)...
The rest of it was just random names really and should be taken as an example of how the number of presenters can be reduced rather than expectation of who those presenters would be, and therefore it has simply opted to keep the names who are currently in those slots where possible (I think actively removing names from the schedule to fit others in would be worse). Originally it was just going to contain presenter A and so on but it was hard to follow.

Can the mods make a BBC News Moving Forward Fantasy thread please.
There is NO CHANCE George Alagiah is going to a. retire, b. stop fighting. He doesn't have terminal cancer, he is still very much a part of the Six, so please be respectful and stop with the idea that he is one of the presenters to go.
Fiona - she negotiated her own contract to suit her, she didn't want to give up news, she'll not be going. She negotiated not having to appear on the News Channel years and years ago. Fiona Bruce has power.
I totally understand why many may have reached these conclusions, but some are ill thought out.
Clive is going nowhere and neither is Carrie Gracie, unless she is prepared to accept redundancy, so speculation on her in in-particular bears no fruit. The weekend gig might suit her now? We'll never know.
Clive is a premier asset to BBC News, possibly co-deputy with Sophie.

I did wonder how long it would be before someone said this
The reputation of this forum must be going down rapidly
Massive job cuts, and the main take out is fantasy rotas and fantasy studio allocation
I think some people need to tone it down a bit, there has already been 6 breathless pages since 3pm as if this is an exciting development

I think we should be careful about speculating about individual presenters.
Is it possible they won't though, reducing travel expenses for guests that don't have to be in the studio?
I would have thought that when Marr and Newsnight return to having several guests in the studio for each show, they will their old studios to move between segments.

Business programming too seems to be slowly dying away. Not long ago you'd have had hourly business bulletins on BBC & Sky News (as well as Ian King Live), several World Business Report episodes on BBC World, various World Business Today editions on CNN and Quest's show on CNN.
Now bar the half-hour Ian King Live there's no permenant business slot on Sky, BBC business bulletins don't seem long for this world and while CNN does still have some business shows they really only provide a US perspective and don't provide the global overview they used to when they were anchored from London/Hong Kong.Al Jazeera too only really has the weekly 'Counting The Cost' programme when it comes to economics/business news.
Does the end of Newsday also mean the end of the Asia Business Report?
It strikes me as shortsighted if BBC World News moves away from having live broadcasts from the region which is home to 55% of the worldwide population and when the global political and economic center of gravity is inexorably moving towards Asia.
Over time CNN International moved away from live Asia morning and evening programmes, and now has nothing. Al Jazeera is the same since they closed the Kuala Lumpur studio. It blows my mind.

Looking at some of the older threads, particularly around the mid-Noughties,I was actually surprised how different TVF was to how it is now.
It seems much more civil and reasonable these days to be honest (a difference to much of the internet which has gone very hard in the opposite direction) - people used to be very blunt on here and I dread to think of the reaction some posts about presenters back then would get these days.
