Accroding to the MG, Ms Boaden is expected to announce the changes we've been discussing for months to BBC News today. So, apart from what we're told in the Media Guardian, what changes do you think we'll see?

Newsier Breakfast?
Simulcast One O Clock News?
Raworth on the Ten?

Here is the full story Changes for BBC News - Media Giardian

She has made her announcements about current affairs today:

Media Guardian's reference to news changes could be a red herring - given that news is part of Boaden's job title.

Oh well, she cuts short any mention of the One receiving the axe! Perhaps this idea was burried.

I thought that that idea had been put on the back burner?

Nothing radical really, just saying what's already there is staying or we're extending by 15 minutes.

A little concerned by that 16 hours of investigative per YEAR. (And that is doubled..!) - I would have thought the flagship broadcaster should be at least producing that every month. Or am I being silly?

Also the extra hours of current affairs in peaktime is largely accounted for by extending midweek Panorama and more Real Story's (joy!)

I must agree. 16 hours per year works out at 18 minutes a week - previously 9 minutes a week then. Pathetic.

I actually don't like 'investigative' journalism when it's the Roger Cook or the undercover type. I just like plain current affairs programmes where people just go places and ask important people important questions (and when I say important people I include everyday Joe Bloggs on the street) - like the recent John Simpson Panorama on Iraq. Even the stuff on BBC Four like 'Holidays in the Danger Zone', I suppose that's current affairs is it? That's the sort of stuff I'd like to see more of.

The worst thing is the Panorama is staying on Sundays apart from the odd 'one off' on Wednesdays. That's showing real commitment to current affairs isn't it. Rolling Eyes

Yes like you said Isonstine, 'joy'. More Real Story means more of the lovely Fiona Bruce on our screens. I can't wait. Very Happy

Just trawling the empty mass which medical sciences refers to as my brain (9-5pm, don't expect anything more) but was'nt Breakfast moving the N24 of was this just an idea batted around. I find it simply unwatchable this days, and before the immoral crys of another Natasha hater, burn him, I actually found her quite *nice* in her coverage of the BAFTA's particulary the bit where she was scratching her arse while she though she was off. Anyway I detract, the programme is now in serious need of a face lift, and were talking Windsor style here. I sincerly hope there are major chages at Breakfast soon as Terry Wogan and Radio 2 are at serious risk of becoming permanent features of the process known as waking me.

So, does anyone know of any definite changes to BBC News - and any dates of future revamps?

2007 is expected to be the date for some major across-the-board rebrands and revamps. That's not to say, however, that some minor ajustments to various parts of the BBC won't take place before then!
