BBC rebrands never seem to be great anyway, I don't get how graphics apparently are modern and fresh when all that has changed is using white instead of black.

Well white is fresh and clean, black is dark and dirty...

LOL. I think you are under-expecting if you think that white instead of black is all that's coming...

Apart from the use of black, what else is changing? It seems to me that they're still using the horrible orange/red look, they've gone back to a box logo, and they've gone back to using Gill Sans, which looks dated anyway. Hardly groundbreaking stuff.

This may be the case, but don't judge the new graphics before they air. Once the new look has aired, yeah call them sh*t but we really don't know what to expect apart from what forumers have speculated and from the tweaked BBC News website.

it won't be good as BBC Arabic, it would have been nice had they taken various aspect of their look, but lets see Laimbie Nairn did a good job last time.

There are far too many rebrands if you ask me, it hasn't been that long since the last one.

So sorry, will the new background in N6 be a variant of what N24 currently have, a version of the bad background used previously when N24 were in TC7 or a CGI newsroom, such as the previous N6 one.

Also [if you're allowed to comment] is the floor still light-grey (or darkened like TC7) and any ideas if the nationals will use the same background. Also, you say the desk is on the right, but is that 'right' if you were there sitting at the desk or 'right' to the viewer?

The other thing I've been wondering, if BBC World has a problem with its studio or has maintenance, where's it going to go? Baring in mind both N24 and World use TC7 as a backup in some cases, or will N9 still be available for such uses.

He wouldn't have mentioned a different position for the desk if there wasn't anything different...

The old World studio is being ditched, but not mothballed for when they need it during maintenance.

I assumed hey will dismantle it to turn it into a newsroom, but the gallery space, lighting rig, and camera powerpoints will remain so they can be put into use if needed, that would be the mothballing.

Mothballed would mean to leave it as is wouldn't it?

I think Ben's right there, I'm under the impression that it is being left as it is, with the set. Then it can be used in emergencies.

I'm guessing it will be like the Westminister Studio at Millbank, which was used when there was a powercut in 2003. As its not used often this is what it looks like:

I do hope they keep a similar sort of layout to the present one for the new straps and graphics. They are neat, tidy and unobtrusive, and everything feels like it's in the right place.

This talk of the return of the boxed logo is worrying me - please no towers!!! (although it would fit with the "let's swap graphics" trend News 24 and Sky News seem to have been going through the past few revamps!).
