BBC Arabic is not a core part of the BBC News brand though - so although it embodies some great design and implementation - there is no need to harmonise with it for branding reasons.

I'm told Arabic will change at some point, but I've no idea when. BBC Persian is being designed from day one with the new branding. Although these channels are run by the World Service, World Service is part of the BBC Global News Division along with BBC World.

I'll spare you the trauma of the presentation talking about brand synergy that was inflicted upon me last year.

It it were up to me I'd have the Global News Channels different to the domestic ones, although this would be a huge pain in the backside for BBC World during simulcast. I do quite like the BBC Arabic deathstar Smile

BBC Arabic deathstar!

Inspired.

Is there any threat to the existing News 24 countdown under these proposals? I would be so sorry to see that tune go!

Do we have an exact date & time for the relaunch?

Hasn't Monday 21st April been bandied about as the proposed relaunch/refresh date for News 24? Presumably at 08:30 when they break away from the Breakfast simulcast.

I would guess at 0500 with TWT? That's what happened last time.

Or maybe Breakfast is part of the rebranding too?!

But Breakfast isn't involved in the move to N6, and doesn't use that much of the News24 branding really (except at weekends).

No, the rebrand appeared on screen at 9am in 2003, which is when Breakfast (and the simulcast) used to end.

He's referring to the mini relaunch in January last year, which launched at 5am UK time.

I managed to poke my head inside the new News 24 set yesterday. Apparently, it's much bigger than it was, although to me, it still looked tiny. Don't expect much on the studio front. It's pretty much exactly the same, only with a different orange-red background (not bad, but nothing compared to the real background of the current set). There's one round desk on the right and an open space on the left.

I don't expect many of you to approve.

Well to be fair, it will look bigger with the wide angle lense.
