There are quite a few insiders on here - always have been. Some more "inside" than others.
I doubt very much anything will leak before the re-launch. All the insiders know what everything looks like so you might get some hints but I would imagine that'll be it.

I just hope that one of the insiders can re-assure my worried mind...
Can any of you 'special ones' tell us that the onscreen straps are nothing like the last LN design (cream era)
I hated those things . . . *shudders*

Can someone explain what will happen to BBC World in the short and long term.
BBC News 24, Nationals, Nations and Regions are getting new looks, and a little after, BBC World moves into a refurbed News 24 studio ( N8 I think).
Now in their current studio, will BBC World continue with the current graphics and branding, and get the new look / or their own look, when they move out of N9 (I think), or do they change along with News 24?
Also the look adopted by the studio, will that mean short-term changes in World's studio to match, or perhaps a harmonising with BBC Arabic???

I guess we'll be seeing them fail a bit more often then once News 24 moves in.
Even though it's been explained here hundreds of times that they never turn the screens off in N6 or TC7 anyway, so all day use by News 24 won't make a difference.
Yes but as N6's screens will be on-air more often, by a simple extrapolation, we will see them fail more often...
The screens have had a bit of an upgrade so that may have been addressed. Certainly they don't appear as gappy as in the past.

I noticed they were having problems with one of the Barco screens in TC7 yesterday. The same one flickered briefly on both the Six and Ten last night. I suppose they've done quiet well not to fail on screen more often.

Thank God! I remember watching the 1 o'clock news a week after that studio launched and a 'BBC News Exec' turned to me and said- "That looks ****!" I really do hate those screens.

Any on-screen look for BBC World in graphics terms is likely to be harmonised with News 24 - so that joint productions match on-screen. (Overnights, shared breaking news and special programmes etc.)
What happens in set terms I have no idea - as I have no idea of the brief that BBC World have in terms of budget to modify the area they are moving into, nor what they want to do with the space, and what look they are aiming for.
They don't have as useful a space as BBC Arabic - as they will be based in the current News 24 space in a relatively small corner of a mezzanine floor rather than having a much more conventional space.
In strict design terms - the BBC Arabic studio and the other BBC studios were designed by the same designer (Simon Jago) - but to different briefs.
BBC Arabic is not a core part of the BBC News brand though - so although it embodies some great design and implementation - there is no need to harmonise with it for branding reasons.

I just thought it would be useful for BBC World and BBC Arabic to have a BBC Worldwide News look, and that with some tweaks to News 24's current studio (darkening the 'newsroom' area behind change the red to dark pink and remove the bright white lightboxes) it could work and look like the Arabic one, oh and remove the side 'wings' as world doesn't use them, that would give them more space.
Joint News 24, and World bulletins could each have their own graphics couldn't they, as they will have their own gallery outputs. Like both the News 24 and World galleries use a clean feed from one of the studios, but output it with their own graphics kits?
Whatever happens with BBC World, I hope the channel's brand, differs from the News titles.

I think the sheer amount of shared programming between BBC World and BBC News 24 means they need to be reasonably consistent visually. Whilst BBC Arabic and BBC World are both BBC TV news channels broadcasting overseas (one internationally, one to the Middle East and Europe), they don't share material in the same way, so don't need to be as closely linked visually, and in fact they are broadcast to a different cultural audience.
As for the current News 24 set and what BBC World do with the space - then it could be a major change. News 24 have used that space very differently in their different incarnations - and there is no reason for BBC World not to use the space differently again. BBC World currently have a reasonably flexible projector-based set AND a newsroom set in their current space - it will be interesting to see if they retain two similar spaces in their new area.
Most of the white/red newsroom branding is pretty cosmetic (there is a lot of it - but it is just neon lightboxes on walls and suspended from the ceiling) and there is no reason why the space couldn't be re-engineered and re-visualised based on a different on-screen look - and with different requirements for the number of production staff who also need to be housed in the space etc.
Joint News 24, and World bulletins could each have their own graphics couldn't they, as they will have their own gallery outputs.
In terms of straps yes - but things like titles, stings, as well as content graphics like maps, stills, quotes, and other stuff needs to be in the same house style.

Often just the DOG and Ticker are changed - but even when the "clean" feeds are used this is just clean in terms of name supers and story straps - content graphics are not replaced.
Whatever happens with BBC World, I hope the channel's brand, differs from the News titles.
Don't know what is happening with the BBC World channel branding - but I would be surprised if the News content on the channel massively differed from the other BBC News TV outlets - particularly as the joint overnight service still has to sit on both channels.

Well I hadn't considered the amount of things they share between themselves, they would need a shared News Look, but the BBC World branding could be designed to match BBC Arabic's and the studio could be done the same style, considering this time News 24 and BBC World's studios will be very different in design.
