I'm pleasantly impressed with the new look website. It's got a lot more room, everything is much clearer and that graphic looks interesting, modern and a good evolution of the current brand. However, I don't see the need for such a large and obtrusive BBC banner at the top. Hopefully that will be tweaked shortly.

That Breaking News graphic also looks good, although I've yet to see it animated so I will reserve judgement until then.

At least this cost-cutting rebrand is looking half-decent at the moment.

Vast improvement. To be honest I have nothing much to add from previous comments regarding the header, but apart from that it seems a decent upgrade. Finally looks respectable on my widescreen monitor.

Gill Sans? Will that be onscreen? This really is back to '99 ain't it? It looks awful IMO.

I always really liked Gill Sans - looks very professional in my opinion - I admit it may hark back to 1999, but I'm sure there are ways of using it effectively in 2008!

I've also noticed about 3 or 4 reports in the past week or so have used Gill Sans on any full screen graphics - looked pretty good compared with the over-sized emboldened Arial lookalike.

Am somewhat peeved that they have locked the flash videos so you can't keep them, unlike the wm and real player clips used previously.

Oh dear. Is it really that underwhelming? Confused

Just a little before that actually!!!

I've always liked the font, and it's historical link with the BBC means it's just right and should be kept as much a part of BBC News (in fact a part of all BBC output) as the globe has become associated with the BBC/BBC News.

the bbc news banner seems to get bigger on the padding in IE6 on the international version, plus the site is still using tables, gees they should get this outsourced! Wink

Yes. That's how the stacked logo appears in the new titles.

Anybody notice that the Diana stuff on tonight's Ten O'Clock News was all in Gill Sans - and seemed to include grey...

I hate these people who are sooooo snobish about web design. Who gives a sh*t about the coding if the results on screen are the same. Why does it matter!!!!?
