Banner has new branding - embedded video will just carry on as it has been doing.

As mentioned, the rest is on the 21st April.

Cool, have the swirls gone?? Wink

You'll see in the early hours of Monday morning... but it's only part of the new look

I'm 35 and I'm excited. Sad!

I believe the new look has already premiered. Just look at BBC Arabic's look. My guess, that's the new corporate look.

Sorry for being so irritating, but how can you tell the difference between N6 and TC7 when watching? I have looked at some pictures, and I can't tell the difference.

So am I the only person not that bothered about this then?

I'm expecting the smallest of small tweaks, mainly just to accommodate News 24 and the new studio arrangements.

As for the look - I'm really not that bothered. I don't think it'll be too major, and if it is it's unwarranted as the current look is not that old, and unlike at times in the past, BBC News isn't in desperate need of a revamp.

Only thing I really think the BBC need to be doing is differentiating News 24 from the BBC1 bulletins a bit by giving them different variations of the titles.

The ceiling is higher in TC7 ( N6 IMHO looks like a broom cupboard, haven't people in the past referred to it as a "shoe box"?).

And it looks a lot spacier.

I really am worried that News 24 is going to look far too cramped in N6.

Well, firstly the desks are different between the two. TC7's set is much taller than N6, which is very obvious in mid shots of the desk, as there is much more space above the presenter and the tops of the screen. TC7 has a black floor, whereas N6 has (or did) have a grey floor. And TC7 is much wider than N6 as well.

And in my opinion is a much better studio than N6. N6 is far too small!

You'd be right not to get your hopes up too much.

Don't forget, as insiders said at the start of all this in January, major equipment upgrades had to be made - that's what will have taken the bulk of the time. I really wouldn't build your hopes up for something very radical and completely different as, from what I've heard, you may be disappointed.

No, no and thrice no. the Arabic service was always due to start before the new corporate look was even planned, so had branding delivered by BBC News, who won the bid to provide the channel identity.

Any similarity between the Arabic branding and the new BBC News branding is purely coincidental, as they were designed by seperate agencies.

BBC News have done a fantastic job of branding BBC Arabic Television, so I'm sure difficult questions will be asked if Lambie Nairn do not deliver branding for BBC News that is up to the standard set by BBC News for BBC Arabic.
