There will be at least one new face as well (but will be temporary!)

Will this new face be...

a) someone off News 24 on the One (can't see it being the 6 or 10 as George and Huw aren't pregnant)
b) a retired/semi-retired presenter coming back to cover?
c) someone totally new to BBC Television news

I was referring to Mr. Mayo.... but will he be the only one Confused: Exclamation

It's being reported that these changes come in "spring", but does anyone know which month we are probably looking at?

I was told April-ish for graphical changes either National or Regions.

I was told today Lambie Nairn are not due to deliver until the end of March, the branding then has to be integrated into the current systems. So April-ish sounds about right, depending on how much work is required.

So it's going to be a totally new look by LN, getting rid of the current globe motif?

I wonder why they are returning to LN, after they have opted to do it all relatively in-house for the past few years. Perhaps their work on Question Time has made them see sense, or perhaps someone is demanding more cream!

I'm glad LN are involved - and also a tad excited!! Smile

I've emailed David Lowe. He doesn't know anything about these changes. You say LN is going to be involved, it's strange. I didn't think the graphics we're changing that much for the nationals, or N24. So I presume LN will be doing regions only?

Laughing Sorry! I'm confuzzled

Woah easy tiger. You can't say LN is involved going on one post. From what I've heard, it's remaining in house. But if I'm wrong and LN are indeed working on this, I will be very happy.

Noticed yesterday that the Newsbeat website has undergone a make over and a new url which is now on the bbc news site instead of the /radio1 site.Is newsbeat no longer a part of radio one news and now under BBC News?

IIRC news output across the BBC radio network recently stopped being branded as BBC Radio x News and is now branded as BBC News for Radio x in an attempt to emphasise the BBC News brand. Newsbeat must now be considered part of BBC News rather than Radio 1.

Rod McKenzie says on The Editors blog...

Quote:
Newsbeat gets a new look

Newsbeat has taken a bold new step into the interactive world with the launch of our new website. I'd love to hear what you think of it.

We're not trying to replicate other BBC news websites: There is more emphasis on music news with our lead story on Klaxons at the Brits, a piece about a possible sunbed ban for Scottish under-18s and some great video content shot by our maestro Andy Brownstone who's shot and produced 30 films for the site.

It's all about visualising our journalism. Video and pictures are the biggest themes to emerge so far. With more and more people listening to the radio over the internet, people will be able to see and interact with our stories in a way they've never done before.

I think we're on the verge of radically changing the way Newsbeat does business. It's not about radio anymore, it's about relevant content being available in lots of different ways (web, mobiles etc) and at last we have the tools for the job. And yes, there is a surprising picture of Lindsay Lohan...

From what I know, LN are already at work for the regions. Don't know if they're doing anything for the Nationals.

Yes but BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat has its own independent team and isn't/wasn't related to BBC News. So departments must have changed over and BBC News must be in control now!
