I do hope they move News 24 within the next few weeks.

The presentation is so stale now, the set looks like it won't last another few weeks - it literally looks like it's falling to pieces.

I was chatting with one of my Media mates the other day and he is the BIGGEST fan of the BBC, but he also said to me that BBC News (not just News 24) is in a horendous state at the moment.

Come on BBC, hurry things along!

It's not just the visual presentation thats changing. A lot of structural changes are being undertaken at the BBC, merging of departments, personnel etc. Its more than just switching offices and studios, and I guess thats why its taking a long time.

Don't you agree with my comments though?

The presentation is so stale now, the set looks like it won't last another few weeks - it literally looks like it's falling to pieces, if not at least clean it because it looks filthy dirty and the floor is all scuffed - and that bloody chugging tractor cam at the TOH that sounds like it's about to take off!

I don't think it looks that bad really, when you consider it's been in daily use for almost 4 and a half years. Agree the tractor-cam sounds dreadful, perhaps just an overhead static shot would be better since they're obviously not going to do anything about the sound it makes when moving back.

Changes always take longer than expected because all organisations encounter unforeseen problems. IIRC the revamp in November 2003 was delayed by quite a few weeks and that was nothing like the massive changes they are doing this time.

it was delayed by a week because the generator at TVC blew up and they didn't finish rehearsals

I know that was the cause of the final delay to the published launch date, but hadn't the work slipped quite a bit from the original estimate due to problems with the new air-conditioning in N8?

I could be wrong, but without searching back through the archived thread that's certainly my recollection.

I'd rather they take their time, and launch in one big 'perfect' swoop. Nationals, News 24, Regionals, Interactive, Online...

Then a few weeks after that, BBC World can relaunch (hopefully with a channel brand, which doesn't just use the News look)...

So what changes do people predict will take place?

Any changes to the names of bulletins/channels?

Will the countdown to the TOTH survive?

Laughing PMSL! Great use of the word pleb! (You don't hear it enough these days. So much better than swearing, if you want to insult. Joy Smile )

Doubt it very much.

I'd say yes - and probably the same one we have now (they've only just added new images in the last few weeks).

What currently happens in TC7 at the moment? I know that the other BBC News bulletins apart from 6 and 10 will move there.
