That's a good point, Brekkie. The BBC is one of the worst offenders for changing things unnecessarily - nothing lasts more than a year or two nowadays. They should take a lesson from Channel 4 because their set, graphics and music are still remarkably fresh.

Graphics and set wise the current look is barely two years old. I was thinking the other night that C4 have basically had their current set for nearly a decade, though with some slight modifications in 2005. In that time BBC1 have had 4 or 5 different sets.

That's an under/over-scan problem on the widescreen TV. I had a similar problem when I bought a new one. You need to get hold of the code to enter the engineer's "set-up menu" and adjust the screen accordingly.
When I rang the manufacturer I was offered an engineer's visit for £80. I bought the manual by email for $9.99 on Fixya.com and did it myself!
What make/model of TV is it?

Ime fed up with the current graphics on news 24 because they get cut off on my widescreen TV (the main TV down stairs)

But they are fine on my TV in my room.

Hi its a Sony CRT widescreen, flat screen, 28" Triniton (sorry for the spelling). I have tried to sort it out on the menu. I can change it on smart mode using the up and down buttons but the picture looks squashed. It doesnt bother me that much but when i want to look at the ticker it can be hard to read.

News 24's current graphics package breaks every graphics safe guideline the BBC has - and someone should have pulled it before it got to air IMHO. (They were told about the clock but still stupidly continued with it in the gap between 4:3 and 16:9 safe - ignoring the fact that they go out 14:9 on analogue and on many DTT boxes connected to 4:3 sets - with overscan. It took a deluge of complaints to move it back into 4:3 safe...)
The News 24 DOG/TICKER and RECORDED bug they use on ABC World News Tonight are so far out of safe it is ridiculous - loads of modern TVs put at least part of that picture area in overscan.
For some reason the "powers that be" seem ignorant of the fact that modern TVs simulate overscan - for some an assumption has been made that "overscan is a thing of the past". It certainly isn't...

I disagree.
As there are four seasons per twelve months, each season must be three months long!
Ever since childhood, I've always used Spring = Mar/Apr/May as a reasonable approxomation.
Well for me it's always been from the 21st of the month - so Spring is from 21st March to 21st June, though that being mid-summers day has always baffled me too!
Actually, now you put it like that, I retract the above.
My argument was as if the Seasons had to correspond to exact calendar months (e.g. 1st March - 31st May), which I now realise was dumb of me.
Of course a 90(ish)-day period could start/end on some mid-month date, therefore encompassing four different calendar months (albeit only part of the first and fourth month)! Doh!
I suppose that the Spring and Autumn Equinoxes, and the Summer and Winter Solstices must therefore signify the beginning (as opposed to the middle) of each Season? (Which therefore makes " Mid -Summer's Day" a totally stupid alternative-name for Summer Solstice)
