Also don't forget that this is a cost cutting exercise. Presenters of flagship bulletins, like the Ten, are getting paid increasingly more as competition for big names grows between broadcasters.

To hire another prominent presenter for the Ten would probably cost the same as five producers!

She doesn't come across as as much of a bitch as the likes of Silverton and Raworth.

Laughing That's a bit harsh. They're not bitches! Especially not Sophie.

Why the hell are they still at TVC? It looks good to go.

Probably just a few more light fittings or so...

So it's being built from scratch then - I had assumed it was being put in a refurbished building.

Yep - the bit between the white and blue cranes is the old BH, the bit to the left of that between the two white cranes is the new wing, and the hole will be the News Centre, linking the two together.

No - most old buildings can't be easily upgraded for modern production (air con, cabling etc.) - so unless there is a very real reason to retain the exterior facade it is easier and more cost effective to start from scratch with a new building.

Building a reasonably large studio in a building not designed for it is very difficult - as areas that big in most buildings normally have supporting pillars running through the space (as Thames had in their news studio in Euston Road) If you start from scratch you can design the space to suit the requirements.

Nah.

They plastered over the bloody door, which is why they had to demolish it and start again.

Well couldn't they just put up a marquee nearby instead of keeping TVC longer than they had to?

Any pics of how it'll look when it's finished?
