The Screens are staying AFAWK, but the imagery on them will probably be replaced.

The beauty of the VRT set, is each bulletin has its own colour, and the studio changes to reflect this colour. Its simple in that it is uncluttered with imagery, its just colour and typography. The black and white neutrality of the set itself means the colour takes on an importance, and the set is adaptable.

Is there parts of it overcomplicated and fussy? Yea, but because it is in neutral tones, it doesn't destroy the cleaness of it. If it had been in various colours, then it would be bad, as it is, it now just adds some subtle detail in the whites and blacks.

LED? Nope, it's e Barco projection cube based set up. Much, much cheaper than a LED version, and much better for how they use it.

Yep - LED would be unusable in a studio the size of the BBC National news one. LED is far too coarse a pitch for a screen that near to the cameras.

For perspective - the BBC walls are 1050ish pixels high, the Sky News wall is 432ish pixels high... You can't shoot close-ups with the Sky wall in focus behind guests - you can the BBC Barco walls.

Hmm - not sure I agree - though have only seen that shot. It is an interesting space architecturally, but it doesn't have any design cues that suggest news to me, other than a slightly cold and clinical feel. What do the screens do during the show - I assume that the wide shot is from an opening or closing sequence as it has the show name (LAAT - I assume = Late?)

Do you have any grabs of the MCUs, studio interview shots, down-the-lines etc., any studio production etc.?

I've read back a few pages and I haven't really managed to find what specifically is changing at BBC News.

I know new graphics are ahead, but can anyone tell me if there are any changes to music/studio? I have asked David Lowe about this, but no response yet.

Also, why are the Ten O'Clock News/One O'Clock News using the N24 studio?

When are these expected to happen?

Thank you, and sorry for being a pain and not reading back from the start!

BBC News 24, as well as the Ten and the One O'Clock news will be coming from N6 from mid March I think. Lambie-Nairn are doing new graphics with a "white-wash" simple look for the studio if reports are to be believed.

There is no word on any possible music changes, but NickyS did comment that David Lowe is now synominous with BBC News, and as he is now on the BBC pay-role, I think its safe to assume the pips are staying.

The 6 O'Clock bulletin will be coming from TC7 I think, so whatever changes are being made to the studio, it must be simple enough to replicate in TC7 (assuming all the bulletins will share the same look).

What will happen if the Ten O'Clock News on BBC1 isn't on the same time as BBC News 24 at Ten O'clock - that may cause trouble as they are in the same studio.

The simple answer is, it will have to be Smile

That has happened before when they've been simulcasting and News 24 generally launches into the hour as usual, then just awkwardly announces that they'll be joining the BBC One news.

It happens rarely, but when it does I can't see them finding a tidy way to do it.

No, N8 (News 24's studio) will also be refurbished before World moves in. If it's taking 3 months to refurb N6 expect it to be closer to June before World moves in.

Does anyone know if TC7 is having a refurb as part of this studio swap?

Though it is going to be tricky to make it tidy on News 24 for some bulletins that they are going to be providing for BBC One. This is particularly the case for bulletins following live events. It certainly isn't unusual for a bulletin to be delayed by 5 or 10 minutes, and to only get 30" warning of a precise on-air time...
