Sorry I am a bit late onto this thread, so News 24 and Nationals are to come from N6, not a good move for News 24, its a rolling news channel, we did to see people running around doing their jobs getting all the information etc etc

You must have excellent eyesight harshy to spot anybody running around doing anything on N24. The only people you ever see moving in the background are the cleaners Wink

Has anyone else noticed that on the weekend news bullitens coming from N8, they're using the longer titles (the ones that have a few seconds longer at the start). Is this because N24 don't have the correct sets for BBC News (e.g. no thunderclaps)...

I know they did last week, even when they had no headlines - the titles were virtually longer than the bulletin.

So are all weekend bulletins now from News 24 HQ - I assumed last Saturday it was just due to the short bulletin due to the rugby.

Well why would they pay for a crew in TC7 when they can use News 24 ......

Also they have used the titles with the long drone at the beginning for the short summaries from news 24 since they have come from news 24 Wink

The real reason's rather boring I'm afraid - it's simply to make for a cleaner opt-in point. Means there's no hint of the countdown when BBC One opts-in.

All of this studio talk confuses me.

So, will the rebrand mean new music and graphics?

Not sure on Music, but Lambie-Nairn are coming back to give BBC News a new look.

Cool they provided an excellent design solution especially for BBC World!

I still think the drums and beeps have life in them yet. It is now pretty much the 'signature sound' of BBC News, so even if David Lowe isn't involved I think we can expect a drums and beeps mix. And probably something sounding more like the original mixes from 1999.

As much as I like and admire the beeps (as a distinctive brand as much as anything), whenever I see clips from the blue virtual era I'm reminded of how fantastic and stirring those orchestral themes were. I would love to see a return to them eventually - they really made you sit up and take notice.

I believe some while back someone did a mix of the beeps and the old Nine theme - I don't remember ever hearing it, but the idea sounded fantastic.
