As I understand it:
- News24 moves to share studios with the one and ten
- Changes to N6 to accomodate simultaneous production of N24 & nationals
- Altered set - i.e. second baking tray
- VizRT commissioned in N6 to support News24
- Tweak to graphics on all nationals to utilise VizRT, with a possible N24 tweak to match
- Tweak to titles / stings - they'll probably need new ones to cover between the 10 & N24
- VizRT roll out across the regions
- New graphics & titles for the regions
- Studio tweaks for the regions
I would not expect a full new branding (graphics / titles / sets) for the nationals or News 24. The current look is still new in most peoples eyes, and they can't afford to be wasting money on stuff which is working more than well enough. With the new VizRT graphics systems in N6 the will be a new look to the nationals, but it will probably be an evolution rather than revolution.
On the other hand, it's sounding like a complete redesign for the regions. Most regions looks have got quite stale, with lots of bits of their looks taken from different eras of the nationals looks. This will be an opportunity for them to return to having a common look and reinforce the BBC News brand.
With the amount of other work they will be needing to do to merge the Nationals and News24 operations, I'm fairly sure a full rebrand for the core BBC News productions will be out of the question.
On a slightly different note, does anyone know whats happening about the News 24 gallery / presentation gallery? Currently they share, with the output of the gallery fed to transmission, but with them moving to N6, will they gain a seperate, small pres gallery, to enable them to opt out of the main gallery? Or will they gain some pres facilities from Red Bee?

I'm told that the BBC Persian channel (from BBC World Service) which was given the go-ahead last year will take the new BBC News branding for it's news bulletins when it launches.
The BBC Arabic channel also from World Service will launch with the identity it already has in place (which looks very good BTW, as long as you like purple) - waiting for the new identity would cause a big delay on the launch.
The World Service also has an online video identity across all language services. I've not heard any discussion of whether or not it would be updated. For those not familier with it a random example is here

I think the current brand is very strong and should stay. I'd like all the regions to get a NWT style rebrand to keep it all inline, but would like News 24, World, Nationals, Newsnight etc. to remain as they are. I actually think having many subbrands, such as Newsnight or Today, helps to give a widened sense of brand over all.

Can I just ask what everyone means by a NWT rebrand - what's different about NWT from the other regions?

Oh right. It's not that different is it? Still red, white and black - though they have introduced blue into the set.

Compared to the red/ orange and white waves of the South East Today or Look North, for example. It's a variation of the nationals theme, and will probably be used for all the regions.

I'd expect the titles for the nationals, N24 and World to be tweaked slightly but a change of all the regions so that they fit within one branding as opposed to the numerous styles we have of current. I suppose the thing to be careful of is the fact the BBC are meant to be cost-cutting not spending loads on new titles, graphics, sets etc.
:-(
I am sorry but I cannot agree with you. The current BBC Scotland titles are very dated. When you see the titles from across the rest of the United Kingdom you will realise how dated they are.
If we do see the new look News at Ten - I guess we will see that titles can be adapted to give the broadcast a sense of modernity and I personally think that is what Reporting Scotland needs.
In saying that, I firmly believe that titles alone cannot make Reporting Scotland more watchable. The presenters and journalism is a major factor and I wonder how this new stv programme will affect it...even if this stv programme turns out to be a lifestyle magazine show.
I agree - the BBC Scotland title are out of synch with the rest of the UK at present. Even BBC Wales / NI have updated their news programme titles. I think Reporting Scotland needs a complete update of presenters, or at least ditch the " mainstays "
Anyway - back on topic, hopefully if there is some sort of adjustment going on with BBC News in general, it will take affect in Scotland.

I personally don't see the need for new titles. They were changed a year ago, they work perfectly, the music while not as good as it was in 1999, it still does the job.
